My wife and I are HUGE bulletproof coffee fans. We use a k-cup machine. I like the Newmans coffee and she likes to grind hers and use the k-cup filter. I make mine with 4 tbs of Kerrygold butter, 2 tbs of Now Foods MCT oil and 1 tbs of Trader Joes organic coconut oil. Then blend it in our Magic Bullet and have some awesomeness! My wife prefers half of the butter, MCT oil and coconut oil but she drinks two of them a couple hours apart as she found having too much at once bothers her stomach a bit.

Holy Crap! Literally...Is that per 8oz-ish of coffee? I'm with your wife. I'd be hurting, something fierce!Side note: I love TJ's coconut oil. It's a damn good price compared to many brands, and it tastes great.

It's the large size on our Cusinart K-cup machine, 12 oz. I started with much smaller amounts of each of the ingredients and after a month or so was up to the above. When I first started even 1 tbs of MCT gave me a tummy problem but my body seems to love it now. As far I as I understand it's not the butter, it's the MCT oil that a person needs to be careful with for tummy issues.

Yes. If I do more than 1.5tbsp in 24oz coffee, I'm hurting. And since my job is driving around in my truck, I can't really afford any unplanned bathroom breaks, ha!

When is the best time to have bulletproof coffee? Anytime during the day?Did some lifting and strength training this morning and I was wondering whether I should have a protein shake or bulletproof coffee. I ended up having a protein shake anyway. Would. It be good to mix the grassfed butter and coconut oil with my protein shake? Or just mix it with coffee?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

That's a good question. I normally see the BP coffee by itself away from any protein. HOWEVER in the CBL book there is an AM Shake consisting of some whey with MCT oil. I wouldn't think it hurt to have a PWO Shake with some butter to it. The coffee mix can be any time.

I put 10g of chocolate isolate in mine, as per the books suggestion.  Adds a little flavor and some muscle sparing benefits!

Oh that's great to hear!! So just 10g of protein? I use zero carb Isopure, so it's usually 2 scoops! So I'm thinking it's probably way less than that! Thanks so much for the advice 🙂Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Thanks so much for that!! Wasn't sure if the protein was going to ruin the effects of the bulletproof coffee!! So I just stuck with my regular zero carb shake 🙂Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I know what I use is 12g of total powder weight for the isolate I use.  But 2 scoops is wayyyyy too much haha.  If you don't own a food scale, I couldn't suggest a piece of kitchen equipment that is more important.

I do have a food scale 🙂 I just wasn't sure if others would put the whole 2 scoops in there :-P. But I will definitely measure if I decide to put protein in my coffee 🙂Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Do you guys think it would be wise to have bulletproof coffee before working out? I workout around 6 or 6:30am. Maybe it'll give me more energy during my workout in the morning?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

I personally wouldn't, I once had a cup of jo too close to my workout and it felt like I had ingested food prior to working out -aka, blegh. Blarg. But hey, you never know, it could have just been my body doesn't like coffee.

Kiefer's pre-workout drink in CBL is up to 800mg caffeine (a combination of coffee and caffeine pills/powder), 5g creatine, 10g whey isolate, and a tablespoon of MCT oil.  I think the caffeine is a lot higher than most can tolerate, but it's essentially a form of bulletproof coffee.
