backlash79MemberDo you guys think it would be wise to have bulletproof coffee before working out? I workout around 6 or 6:30am. Maybe it'll give me more energy during my workout in the morning?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I would stick with black coffee for early morning fasted workouts.

SpatzModeratorI made some coffee and stuck a bit closer to the BP ideals this morning. I made regular coffee, no heavy whipping cream (:'(), 1.5 tbsp SALTED kerry golds (I am not going unsalted. He doesn't give a good explanation as to why I shouldn't have salt in my coffee!) 1 tbsp coconut oil, a dribble of sweetener, AND I tried some orange extract (dipped my stirring spoon in it, since extracts are so strong). As far as coffee goes? Not bad! A nice frothy buttery orange breakfast coffee. However, know what would have made it 10x better? Cream.

Tracy JarchowParticipantSalted butter in coffee is yuck compared to unsalted butter which is yum!

If you want to use cream, go ahead. As long as you don't have a casein allergy it will make little if any difference. Also, the unsalted is because he things salted makes it taste bad. I personally prefer it.

SpatzModeratorI grew up with salted butter, unsalted butter just tastes very bland to me. I assumed he advised against salted butter purely because he himself doesn't care for it, otherwise he would have put more information as to why salted butter is not recommended. I thought I would try going without the cream and see how it tasted, and while I will probably cut back on my cream in my morning coffee, I think I'll still have a tbsp. No allergies here except one time I had a wine mix (5 different local wines in one cup?) and my upper lip swelled up like crazy. No real way to determine which wine it was unless I wanted to buy a bottle of each and test them all...

Richard SchmittModeratorGet some full fat coconut milk (canned) or coconut cream!!!

SpatzModeratorI'll check with Sprouts and Whole Foods and see if I can find some coconut cream there without any added sugar. Our HEB doesn't carry anything like that unless its a coconut cream jam I saw this morning 😉 Looked pretty good but not for ULC days.
