Scope75GuestI've made the BPC with salted and unsalted butter and I can say salted is the way to go. It just has way more flavor and I use salted butter for everything else.

SpatzModeratorI've heard of many people salting their coffee (people not adding butter of course, just regular coffee drinkers) and they say it helps mask the receptors on the tongue from the bitterness of the coffee. Which would be a good explanation as to why it tastes better to me. 🙂

I agree, salt with coffee really brings out all the subtle flavors of it, so salted butter is like a coffeegasim.

Scope75GuestThe only thing I don't get is why he's so againts the salted butter when he's a big fan of salt, so why not use salted butter. LolThink I've heard him say he takes in 5-7g of salt a day. I've also added extra salt to my BPC and with the right amount it'll almost taste sweet. I use Pink Himalayan Salt because its WAY better than any other salt.

Tracy JarchowParticipantThe only thing I can think is it's a difference between good coffee and not so good coffee. Some coffee is so bitter and acidic that anything that will mask the flavor makes it better. As I see it it's all a personal preference and what works for the individual is the right thing to do! Good fats and mycotoxin free coffee beans is the key, with or without salt or coconut oil or heavy cream or etc. is simply individual style points!

So true!!!! ^^^^^^It's so ironic too because Dave Asprey who pretty much is the namesake of BPC say he thinks using salted butter is disgusting and anyone who does so is retarded, pretty much, to para-phrase. LOL.But it appears I'm not alone in thinking it tastes way better with the salted, which is the only version of the Kerrygold Costco sells anyways.

Richard SchmittModeratorDo talk use straight grass fed butter or think regular butter with the MCT Oil will work? I can't seem to find that answer. I found the one where butter alone is bad.

SpatzModeratorI am of the opinion that regular butter will work. I just recently (past couple of weeks) started using Kerry Golds, before that I just used regular butter. I think grass fed would be “better” but thats not to say regular store bought butter isn't still good.

Richard SchmittModeratorI wouldn't be using nasty margarine butter haha just the sticks. But okay I figured it wouldn't hurt

SpatzModeratorOh yeah NOOOOO…. I think margarine would be a really bad step in the wrong direction…. Yick….

Scope75GuestRegular butter isn't grass fed so it has the wack omega 3:6 ratio of grain fed cows. Now regular butter will work but its not optimal.

As I understand it butter is good, grass-fed butter is by far the best. I'm not a chemist but the makeup or the fatty acids is different for cattle that have grazed exclusively on grass versus being fed grain.http://www.bulletproofexec.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Butter-Infographic1.jpgOther interesting coffee things...http://www.bulletproofexec.com/bulletproof-coffee-mistakes-butter-coffee-fatty-coffee-and-more/http://www.bulletproofexec.com/how-bulletproof-coffee-stops-dry-eyes/
