Sharon WParticipantYeah, I figured the Pasture raised was certainly not Grass fed and I prefer KG, but its nice to have some options out there when you can't get your favorite.

Anchor is a good brand. The flavor isn't as intense as Kerrygold, but it's New Zealand butter (grass-fed) and about half the price.

I've told you about it tons of times, haha.I always tells you grass-fed butter isn't expensive and easy to find, you could easily find kerrygold, anchor, or organic valley at almost any walmart super center, and about half the grocery markets.

Richard SchmittModeratorI thought you meant just the Organic Valley stuff! I gotta check the Super Walmart. I'm not finished with the KG but will be.

cloudybrainParticipantYeh I started going to walmart to get my coconut oil too. Before I'd be spending like $8-$16 for a 16 oz jar; kind of ridiculous. I seen coconut oil go for $35 to $50 bucks for the 30 oz ones. But at walmart.. I get two 30 oz jars for $14 bucks.I'll prolly check out this anchor stuff too over there. A few months ago I was complaining on how ridiculous it was to find grass fed butter, everyone was talking about trader joes; unheard of from where I live -- we have like half a dozen wegman stores around here.. but no grass fed butter there. Two months later, they opened a trader joes here. 🙂

Just make sure you are getting virgin, unrefined or cold-expeller pressed. The cheaper stuff usually isn't. The heat refined is usually from older, dry coconuts using chemicals to pull out the oils. Pretty must makes the coconut oil worthless to you nutritionally.

That's just the kind Walmart carries.

CBachelor17Member+1 On the type, if its not cold-expeller pressed, you may as well be eating Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil from sticks of cheap margarine.

Sharon WParticipantHere is a great article on how to choose a good quality coconut oil. Points out how refined products(Like Spectrum) are bad for you and how to find good deals on excellent quality oils.http://www.evolvingwellness.com/essay/how-to-choose-a-coconut-oil-comparing-best-and-worst-brands
