gideon cullumMemberbefore anyone bites my head off. I searched the forum and could not find answer.I was thinking of skipping prep phase as I feel way better when I can eat my greens in bulk.As I am training intensely and not that fat. maybe about 12% What are the advantages of prep phase over backloading while on a deficit?I know you are training the body to burn fat, and deplete glycogen stores. but will they not slowly deplete when on a deficit anyways?cheers

I actually don't think the prep phase is necessary for CBL. However, what do you mean by "eating your greens in bulk"? You can have 30 g of carbs per day so you should be able to eat a lot of vegetables.

I agree with iBob. Theres no need for the prep phase on CBL.

In a caloric deficit they will never be full and will always deplete quickly, barring some kind of extreme metabolic disorder, in which case you probably dont store any glycogen to start with and are probably already burning fatty acids primarily. A healthy person will both store and use up glycogen quickly and efficiently.

mr a j dickinsonParticipantSo say someone is just starting out on CBL at 20% bodyfat. Is there any point in doing the ten day prep phase, or just jump straight into the <30g carbs non training days and bacload as normal on training days?I know you get a baseline for carbs on doing the prep phase with weight lost, but I've done it previously and know how many to have.

Do the Prep.

Most people who are 20% bodyfat should be on Carb Nite, unless they are very muscular. However, not that many people fall under the "fat an jacked" category except for football players, throwers, and strength athletes. However, if you are 15% body fat, I think the prep phase really doesn't matter.

CCTMemberI ptretty much agree with everyone else. I didnt do the prep phase (15% bf), and CBL has worked great
