Gl;itch.eMemberHi guys!! Do i need to add half hypertropic shake in the evening with each of the carb laden meal coz if i add shake with meals then my protein for the day becomes around 250gm and then i cant have much carbs. My weight is fluctuating continuously> someday its 72 and the other day 70. Im consuming 3600-3700 calories atm coz i got a physical job and workout 6days/week. Should i increase my carbs. ATm im consuming p220/c400/f120
People need to learn to count better. protein=4 cals per gram. but we know its not really ;-p carb = 4 cals per gramfat = 9 cals per gram Using your p220/c400/f120 that puts you at 3560 cals. And I imagine you shoot for this number but fall short more often than you exceed it. Simply put. Are you gaining weight? If yes, you are eating enough. If not, you need to eat more.

You don't need to, but I like adding 10 g of hydrolysate and 5 g of leucine with each backload meal. It improves the insulin response by 50%, according to Kiefer in the CBL book.

So i dont need to create a shake wiith isolate and hydrolysate, just hydrolysate and leucine is enough? I dnt have casein i just use whey hydrolysate. According to kiefer casein intact build muscle upto 24 hrs in the book , even in my hypertropic shake i dnt add casein. i make a shake with isolate, whey hydrolysate, maltodextrin, leucine and creatine in a recommended amount specified in the book . Is casein necessary in the shake?

You can put in casein if you want and I do think it's a good addition to a PWO shake. During the backload, you can use casein if you would like, but you would be better off getting protein from dairy or meat.

According to the table in the cbl book , my goal weight is 166lbs so i consume 120gm protein pre workout meals and rest 80 gms during backloading including post workout shake. so my PWO shake gives me around 60gm protein and rest 20gm by adding shakes to backloading meals. Do i still need meat or dairy products during backloading coz atm as soon as i finsih my workout my shake and start backloading around 7 with fruity pebbles, potato wedges, iced buns and stuff like that but i dnt eat meat or dairy products in the evening for protein

Brandon D ChristParticipantll you need for protein is 1 g/lb for the day and there are possibly drawbacks to having more than 1.3 g/lb. You should have some whole food animal protein in the backload. Personally when I backload I have a couple glasses of milk, it's easy. Do that or just add casein to the hydrowhey/leucine shakes.

MikehrMemberYeah definately some whole food protein during the backload will be beneficial.

hack_attackParticipantYeah, Milk is my friend on backloads. That and eggs. So many egg whites.

I used to eat cottage cheese during my backloads but then my protein was going too high arnd 270gm so i stopped it. still i cant figure out protein needs for my body. Im 155lbs and according to 1gm/lb rule, i shud be eating 155gm/day but i eat 120 gms in my pre workout meals and 80-90 during backloads. even if eat fruity pebbles, bread or potato wedges for carbs , i get some amount of protein from them aswell

Dont count protein from non-meat or dairy sources.

GonnaBeGiantMember+1 protein from carbs are not usually complete proteins, so they don't count. Unless, it's quinoa or eziekel bread because they are complete proteins, but you shouldn't be backloading with them anyways.
