SpueyGuestI've tried, and failed every single time. I'm 5'6 and 62kg (135 pounds ish I think), I've reached 600g of carbs, with about half of it being sugars, at least 200g of fat, and everytime I wake up LIGHTER or the same as the morning of Carb Nite. I no longer try to plan a perfect Carb Nite with optimal foods, I choose an area, and pretty much hit every single shop there, and have my friends drive me back while I undergo insulin shock.

plaquexMemberAre you drinking enough during your Carb Nite? When I was leaning out back in the days and had to refeed with limited fluid intake during the day (1-2L of tea) I also woke up lighter the next morning.

AMtreyMemberHey Spuey,do you mean that include gluten, dairy etc in your Carb Nite and you're seeing results?

SpueyGuestPlaquex, actually now that you mention it, I am extreeemely thirsty in the morning. So I've probably been “dry” carb loading.AMtrey, I've been including gluten, wheat, dairy, fructose, plant fats on CNS nites, however I do a super strict ULC week where I ALWAYS match fat to protein with fibrous veggies, I only eat animal fats and I even avoid eggs to make sure my ULC week is as insulin absent as possible. And yes I'm seeing consistent results, the tendon thats responsible for the middle separation of a 6 pack is finally showing for me, and my lower abs are beginning to take shape. So I'm fairly lean and I still don't need to watch my Carb Nites yet.

plaquexMemberJust try to get more fluid in with your next Carb Nite or try to store more fluid in the body with some sort of sodium manipulation.

Richard SchmittModeratorOh no not high at all, that's the range I usually fall under too. I can never get above 2300 on a given day. CN usually ranks up there between 6000-7000 though. I know I wake up tighter when I end the night with ice cream and a couple cookies or cake or brownies.
I am a female though! Shouldn't I NOT be eating the same as you!?
Psh you can eat as much as me! Be an awesome compitetion though 😉 but seriously, it shouldn't matter on gender if you can eat as much or more than me. I could be a baby and not want to eat to the 1000g mark, maybe I'm not actually listening to my body and eating enough. If you're hungry eat, if not don't. Espeically on a CN, you get 4 per month and about 48 per year...enjoy each and every one of them. Until you switch to CBL then you can triple this amount haha.

Would depend on amount of activity. If results are good/your not gaining, I see no worries. I'm curious that I'm 30+ pounds on big tex and eating just as much or fewer calories.
Am I eating too much or not enough? I try to eat .8g-1g per body weight in protein (range between 140-180) with matched fat if not higher.

Richard SchmittModeratorI am pretty active, I work out 4 times a week with weights and HIIT @ least once a week. My job requires me to be on my feet moving around for 5-9 hours depending on how busy it is. Plus I am constantly active around the house when off work as well. I eat usually twice a day and the latter meal is usually heavier to keep me satiated til noon the next day. I haven't gained or measurements increased. But seems weird that I can eat as much on ULC days and CN days as men. I am not overweight by any means and so my appetite sometimes surprises me!
Yep training schedule is exactly like mine, except I do HIIT 2x a week....and I keep on my feet or move A LOT during the day...I could just be a baby and not eating enough. It's pretty awesome how our body amazes us.

So...limiting liquid is actually ideal for a CN? I tend to have at least 4 cups of coconut milk during it (having cereal and milk shakes)

Dang congrats first of all on the results you've made, looking forward to seeing my damn abs...and no eggs?? I eat like 4 a day to help bring up my protein/fat intake...

If the next day isn't a competition/photoshoot or something like that then you actually don't need to worry about fluid manipulation and all that stuff. Just enjoy your Carb Nite.

Brandon D ChristParticipantThe Carb Nite I had coming off the detox diet I had to consume well over 1,000 g of carbs. I could have eaten more if I wanted to as well.

abbeballGuestI always weigh more after carb nite; I try to drink water, diet coke, and almond milk (with my donuts of course 🙂 ). I usually wake up the next day about 4 lbs heavier but within a few days I am back to my pre CN weight. Should I be waking up lighter?Â
August 6, 2012 at 5:33 pm #69206
Richard SchmittModeratorHonestly not really no, sometimes it happens but weight gain is common.

Whew. I always wake up the next day and hold on to a few pounds for about 3-4 days. For instance, I had carb nite thursday night (August 2nd my birthday 🙂 ) and today is Monday and I woke up at my pre CN weight. I usually see a pound a day go down between my Carb Nites. I have had 4 CN and am still at same weight and measurements so looking forward to seeing some results, although I guess I can't complain if I don't see any but can continue to eat like this!
