deedeeMemberHi everyone, I'm currently on day 5 of prep phase. F. 25yo, 5'1 and 120lbsI want to lose fat and get stronger/ gain musclePretty beginner in terms of strength training, been doing it consistently for 4 months. I go 3-4 times a week, and am following a starting strength program but my weights are pretty light. I also do two HIIT morning sessions a week.squat - 110lbsdeadlift - 130lbsOHP - 40lbsclean - 45lbsThe past 5 days I've been eating <30g carbs, about 90g fat and 90g protein, and skipping breakfast.I've read both CN and CBL but can't decide what's right for me. I worry about not benefiting from CBL cause i don't have much muscle mass and can't really consider my weights to be 'hardcore' or 'heavy lifting'.I am also concerned I wont be able to get stronger on CN, that's my main goal at the moment. What should I do? Please help me!!

Richard SchmittModeratorYou can get stronger with CNS. It's not something to kinda stress over by exclaiming help me. You should take your first priority into consideration. Want to lose fat then try CNS, but be smart with your training. Want to lose fat slowly while gaining muscle do CBL SA but controlled, especially for females. You should probably look into some articles relating to women on the AIO site, listen to some Podcasts, watch some Tubecasts, and use some of the female's member logs to get a general idea.

+1 to this.If your primary goal is strength, then why not give CBL-SA a go, but just be careful with it. And remember that going "heavy" is relative to everyone; with CBL just make sure you're lifting heavy-ish for you to make sure that tGLUT is moving.

deedeeMemberThanks for that, guess i still have 5 more days before i decide what to do. Think I'll just start one out, see the changes and go from there.

GnomerParticipantYou can gain strength and muscle on CN. I see my weights going up constantly and my bf going down steadily.

deedeeMemberwould it be better to lose fat first and build strength slowly, or to build up a good strength foundation at the start, maintain it and then lose fat?

Bradley R. CollinsParticipantAs a beginner to weight training you're going to gain strength almost no matter what you do since you will be able to exploit newbie gains for a while, and your nervous system will become more efficient as well. If your first goal is fat loss, do CNS keep doing Starting Strength, and when you've lost the fat you want to lose switch to CBL. That is my advice:)
