Hello out there. I'm a new poster but I've been following the site for a long time, and I must say, it's refreshing to find a community of people who are willing to reject the norms and decipher the crap in order to find what truly works. Kudos to you guys.My question is a bit complex. I'm an undergraduate student home for the summer. During my time home, I work for my father's roofing company, usually pulling four 10 hour days a week. Most of the time it is pretty grueling to say the least. How could I best implement one of Kiefer's diets into this schedule? I assume Carb Nite would be out the window due to the strenuous activity, so backloading sounds like a better fit.Should I backload the nights before my 10 hour shifts, then stay low carb for the days I won't be working? Also, I try to keep my backoads clean, avoiding fructose and sucrose, any recommendations as to what foods would work best for this type of load?My goal right now is to burn fat, while building/maintaining strength as I am a competitive raw PLer. Stats:6'3, 235, not sure on the BF% but I assume it's in the vicinity of 15-18%Thanks very much and i appreciate any input.

To be honest, I don't think that backloading would be good for you unless you are lifting after work. For backloading you really need heavy muscular contractions, so while that kind of work is very taxing, it wont translocate glut-4 which is what we are after. After the first half of the prep phase I'd say you'd have no problem with strength and energy during the day while doing CNS, most people find they can amazingly well while in ketosis. You are always best to limit fructose during re-feeds, under 60g.Most people do best avoiding gluten as well.

Agree with Trevor. Hard work? Yes. But nowhere near the type of hard work you need for CBL. At this point, your goals and workout schedule will determine CBL vs CNS

Thanks for the feedback thus far.Working off of those comments I have a bit more info to add that can possibly make the choice easier to make.I train 5/3/1 4 days a week, two sessions of the weekend and two days during the week after work. I also take BJJ lessons 3 times a week but they're really not all that grueling at this point because I am a total newbie. So, considering this, and taking in the previous comments, perhaps CBL is actually a good choice? Thanks everyone for the help.

On days you train you should be good to backload.During your weekend sessions are you training AM or PM?

It varies, to be honest, depending on errands or whatnot. But more often than not I get a lift in at about 2pm on weekends.

Well if it's gonna be in the AM you can play with backloading the night before, but if 2 pm is the norm then just train like normal and start eating carbs around 4-5ish. Something I didn't say but thought I'd mention is BJJ wont necessitate a backload.I suppose you could play around with doing after after BJJ if you wanted, just back off it if you start gaining fat.
