ajhaycockParticipantHi guysCould someone help me with the above. I am using Carb Nite now to get to down from 12% BF to under 10% (I want to see my ab's and lean out before CBL)Am I allowed to perform HIIT and high intensity heavy weight circuits (25 - 30 minutes, no rest) on Carb Nite?Kiefer states in the original Carb Nite book that HI can "increase cortisol and grow new fat cells" when actually performing a carb nite. I love these exercises and it keeps my fitnes levels up but I also want to stick to my goals. What are anyones thoughts? Thanks 😀

Richard SchmittModeratorUse that method 1-2 days Post CN, if you want to do it later in the week I recommend doing it 1 or 2 more times, but you'll do better by lifting heavy as well.

Richard SchmittModeratorI would perform CN after doing Back, and then the next day do the HIIT and/or Core

ajhaycockParticipantOk awesome. Would you think the High Intensity with no rest for 30 minutes would be detrimental?

Richard SchmittModeratorEh yes and no, I mean you have to put some kind of rest in there in order to get your HR back down, and shot back up again. Take Insanity or Tapout XT (which I will be using), they go on and on forever it seems, what I would do is go full on with one of their movements for at least 1 minute, then rest for 2-3, maybe 4, rinse repeat. For what you're doing, I'm not sure but that's an example. If it is Crossfit, then try to get some type of rest in there

Richard SchmittModeratorI have the entire Insanity downloaded and did it for a week…lmao…what I meant the one I was going to do is Tapout XT. Since it is a MMA type conditioning routine, and the push towards this stuff with CBL and/or CNS, I'd figured what the hell why not try it. I was planning to do Boring But Big routine to keep up with my 5/3/1, add some muscle, and do Tapout just for the conditioning.

cloudybrainParticipantI wasn't doing CNS or CBL at the time of doing insanity, maybe it would have helped. I did insanity for a month and a half, I gave up after the last two weeks.First: A lot of the exercises are extremely difficult. I am NOT that flexible, and the workout routine does not help at all. For example, they do burpees really quick, but because of how large my legs are and how inflexible I am, I can't do it, so by the time I perform two or three, they are done. I had to skip a lot of workouts because of the pain and the inflexible muscles I had. I tried yoga and karate for 4 years and my flexibility never improved, so I doubt that insanity would have helped in the allotted two months. With that said, the first month was doable, the second month was not.Second: I kinda saw results. It wasn't game changing results as advertised, but the physical results were slightly noticeable. My stamina and cardio have improved, so when I went to the gym at that time, I had less of a chance of wheezing by the end of the workout.Third: I felt hungrier than I ever felt. I started eating more than I did before I started the workout; I simply couldn't control it.Final: When I stopped insanity, my appetite was still very high. In the following 2-3 months, I skyrocketted from 220 to 250lbs.I had nothing but bad experiences for being over weight and being frustrated for not keeping up. I was also frustrated that my body slightly changed after one month and a half, so it was more toned, but my weight remained constant. I tried to get back into it, but gave up again after the first two weeks because I felt nothing changed after the first time around. The only thing that improved was my breathing, my heart rate, and my stamina; other than that, I physically looked the same.I was thinking maybe trying out Rushfit or TapoutX, but I have to checkout the exercises before hand. Moving 260lbs around is NOT easy, so I'll get back into it after I tone down a bit.

I do the same thing with my HIIT timer... 30 secs or one minute on 2-4 min off.. depending on my HR.. Insanity is brutal, but effective if timed out like you mention.. I also have (which I am sure you don't ::) ) Turbo Fire, I use that a lot with the same HIIT timer system... So glad that you guys mention this workout as I thought you'd think they were taboo or something.. I do my own HIITS at times, but I like the verbal stim while working it..Â

Richard SchmittModeratorOh yeah it's stated in the CBL book that these will not warrant a backload, BUUUUUT I see no problems with using these on CNS.
