StephanieGuestHi there. I’m a 25 year old female powerlifter who has played around with CBL and more recently CN to cut my body fat down while retaining my lean muscle mass. I like a lot of what the diet does and I feel that it has been effective. The one thing I don’t like, however, is how much it makes me pee! Does anyone else experience this? I thought maybe it was unrelated to the diet at first, but since stopping CBL my symptoms have gone away. A few weeks ago I started doing CN and now my symptoms are back. I am assuming they are somehow related, although I cannot find a lot of information on the subject. I have read that very low carb diets can sometimes cause an increase in urination but this seems very extreme. Sometimes I am waking up 2-3 times a night to go, plus go a ton all day long. My fluid intake is moderated and is the same as when I’m not dieting. Any information on this would be super helpful! Perhaps there’s something I’m not doing or doing too much of that is causing this. Thanks!

Penny DannerParticipantI have found that since I’ve stopped doing CN I pee LESS. It was BAD on CN. On CN you don’t have the glycogen to hold water in your muscles like a person eating carbs most of the time would have. Do you take creatine? That may help because it will cause water to stay in the muscles. How many days are you CBLing?

Robert HaasParticipantIodine deficiency is a common cause of frequent urination. Cells need iodine to hydrate. You drink plenty of water but cells won’t hydrate properly if they are iodine deficient so you are dehydrated even though you drink enough fluids.
Try T3 fuel or take sea kelp tablets and see if this helps. Since I’ve started this I get up maybe 1 or 2 times a night at most now when it used to be 3 or 4.The eyes can't see what the mind doesn't understand.

StephanieGuestCurrently I’m on CN so basically not getting much in the way of carbs at all until the weekend. I had stopped taking creatine awhile back but maybe I should start it up again. Currently doing a bit of a refeed week and adding in some rice with my normal meals to see if that makes a difference.
The iodine is an interesting thing to consider as well. I feel like I should be getting enough through diet, but I could be wrong. It’s not something a lot of people generally keep track of.
I will try both of these things and see what happens! Thanks!
