Rob HaasKeymasterProbably a little overthinking it but the book mentions eggs/meats/Lucien, etc causing an insulin response if too much is ingested at a sitting.I'm good with no carbs and very little protein with MCT's all day but the protein gets me when I get really hungry at around noon or so.What other suggestions would anyone have then eating fats/fiber with protein at early afternoon meals?I think I read in the book eating fats and fiber will reduce/slow protein digestion by up to 20%How much protein can one eat without stimulating at insulin release? 30grams...40grams...?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorEat around 1/3 to 1/2 of your protein intake prior to training, if you were gonna limit it I would top it at 30-40g per meal.

Brandon D ChristParticipantThere's a chart for this. I think 40% of protein intake for the day is the lowest I would go.

I believe I've heard Kiefer say that one could eat all the need protein in a single meal and it would be the same. What's your thoughts on that?

When trying to build muscle I really don't agree. Either does the science

+1Plus I would question the context that Kiefer was speaking in. I know he's not a fan of intermittent fasting and eating your protein all in one meal is like intermittent fasting lite.

I think the context he was speaking from was just to illustrate that the whole "only being able to digest 30g of protein at a time" is myth.. Not that doing a 200g protein meal is a good idea.

Bradley R. CollinsParticipantI know Jon Anderson says each of his meals contain 100g of protein. I do this frequently as well since I try to get most of my protein in two meals and my PWO shake.

Same here.....Lately I've been eating 12-16oz of lean meat along with 2-4 eggs scrambled with 28g HWC and 3-5oz of salami twice daily. One meal is at 12 the next is at 730-8pm. I start my morning 730 off with 10-14g of MCT oil and 10-14g coconut oil.
