Hello, new to this forum and recently learned about CBL and thought I'd give it a try.  I'm about 24% BF and want to get down to 12-14% by my birthday (mid-june).  Lower would be better too, but I'm in this for the long haul so it's probably an eventuality. Married with a 6 (almost 7) month old and we both worth full time jobs with overtime so fitness or any hobby has been hard.  I've been making time but it's still tight.  Doing 3 days a week of lifting and some sprints once a week.  Not much time for anything else at the moment.  😛I got into lifting in 2003 and did it for about a year before slacking off.  Over the next 8 or so years I've dabbled back into it, learning more each time, but never sticking with it.  My goal this time isn't transformation as much as building a habit and going for the long term.  A big thanks for this book, this website and the community.  I like what I see so far.

@24% i would be more inclined to suggest CNS for a few weeks.  That way when you backload you can be better programmed to utilized to insulin spikes.  If you still choose to backload then i would limit your carbs to shed the fat.

Thanks for the reply BigR!Would CNS be better or just as effective as a CBL with lower carbs?  CNS looks pretty good, though I workout on Thursday and Sunday right now, would I need to change my workout to be Friday so I have the 48 hour window? Thanks!

At 24%, if you primarily want to lose weight then go the CNS route, take it from someone who tried CBL twice(First gained fat then gained muscle while keeping bf same)and currently on CNS second go and dialed down my carbnites. I am 223 @ 27% currently. Like Keifer says “CNS is the shiny new toy, that works out of the box, and CBL you need to put together.” With a baby and training 3 times I would highly recommend CNS. Hope this helps, good luck.

I would recommend CNS – you could try something modified in the future – a few days of CBL. But start with CNS as-is and even if you don't work out you'll shed fat. Can't go wrong with that!

CNS would be more effective -  This is based on your original post where i believe you mentioned fat loss as your primary goal.Generally, CBL works best with lower % of body fat, so it's kind of standard procedure to do CNS before you venture to CBL. CBL also is great, (that's what i'm doing) but your body needs to be prepped for it first, via CNS. The workout things can go either way because CNS does not REQUIRE that you workout, HOWEVER, results will be elicited far greater.  The general recommendation is to have a carb nite the day before you train (that is considered optimal).  It is also a good idea to think about doing HIT to really deplete glycogen stores while other fat burning hormones have peaked... just something else to think about.  But to answer your question, If you train Thurs/Sun Try to have Carb nite Wednesday if you are able too!best of luck!
