muscle.bill.8KeymasterSo I'm new to the CBL protocol and am obviously still learning and experimenting… But when I read/heard about CBL – eating Beef Bacon Eggs, and turnovers at bedtime, all while becoming more lean and muscular – it all sounded too good to be true/too good not to try lolThat said, I have a rare genetic disorder called homozygous-familial-hypercholesterolemia. Now, instinctively I am thinking to myself "CBL probably isn't for me, since my cardiologist has been telling me not to eat bacon my entire life." I go for weekly plasmapheresis as treatment. I guess my overall question is aimed at you old CBL pro's out there: Has CBL had a negative effect on your lipid profile? Cardiovascular disease is something I am stuck dealing with, but I like to try and not provoke it any more than I can help it. I have been following CBL for about a month now though, and I can say that I am enjoying it thoroughly! I find I have more energy and am more alert in the morning at work, and my resistance training, to my extreme surprise, has been feeling incredible! No carbs pre lifting was unheard of to me, but it's great! I haven't noticed my body comp changing much, but I would say I am still progressing so I can't complain. Anyways, before my question turns into a blog...MB.. get ripped or die trying ..

Mr. GMemberI am sure most here will agree that everyone is different. If your feeling good and your blood work is looking good those are great signs of a good start. Keep progressing and keep a close watch on things as it seems you are.

backlash79MemberI have no personal experience with this matter, only what I have read or heard from others more well-versed than I. If you have a pre-diagnosed condition I would definitely take more caution than someone else.Check out this article by Chris Kesser talking about Paleo and high-cholesterol, he mentions some cases with genetics. http://chriskresser.com/the-diet-heart-myth-how-to-prevent-and-reverse-heart-disease-naturallyAnother more personal story about someone who had high cholesterol readings. http://paleononpaleo.com/paleo-cholesterol-testing/

DerekcervaParticipantcardiovascular disease and heart attacks are caused by inflamation correct?you should be more worried about inflammation, because cholesterol isnt inherently bad for you, ive seen someone eat cheeseburgers and fast food for a month and his cholesterol improved, its a documentary you should check it out its called "Fat head" and its pretty much a mans documentary response to morgan spurlocks "Supersize me" Its definately worth checking out

He has homozygous-familial-hypercholesterolemia which I believe is different than run of the mill "high cholesterol". @muscle.bill you do not have to eat bacon and cherry turnovers to CBL. All you have to do is go low carb (while eating a decent amount of fat) before training, consume carbs PWO, and go low carb on off days. The food choices are up to you.

+1. There's a lot of hype/hate for CBL because people have gleaned these few facts but ibob is right on the money here. Has you doctor OK'd fats in any capacity in your diet? Also, have you read any of Dr. Patel's (I believe?) posts for DH/a.io? Anyone else can you help me with links? I think these may have been deleted or maybe I just suck at finding them...Edit (found it):http://athlete.io/3672/dh-interview-series-dr-rocky-patel/
