markccjKeymasterI'm making my own protein blend.Should I make two separate blends? One optimized for post-workout, and another one that would be suitable to consume during the no CHO period?Or is one blend sufficient? What ingredients should I put in the blend(s)? I was thinking something like the following. For the PWO Blend:Whey Protein IsolateHydrolyzed Whey ProteinCreatineLeucineFor the Low CHO Blend:Whey Protein ConcentrateCalcium CaseinateThanks.

markccjGuestHow come you include the casein varieties in the PWO blend?I thought it was slower digesting and Kiefer recommended straight isolates and hyrdolysates PWO? And I thought the casein would be better in the no CHO blend?Looks like you order from true nutrition too.

caseFSUGuestIf I had to do it again, I might take out the Micellar Casein but I don't really think it matters. To be honest, I'm getting more than enough of a spike with the Peptro, Hydro Whey, Leucine and Malto.

KenSanderParticipantI order my custom blends from TrueNutrition too. Great site! Easily my fav.I just do the custom protein -- hydro, whey, casein and then add my creatine, leucine and dextrose myself. This way I can take a bit on non backload times if I need to.

Richard SchmittModeratorY'all find it cheaper and better to get stuff straight from Truenutrition? I can't have that casein protein because I can't tolerate dairy but everything else is cool with me.

For me it's great. I live outside the states, so it's cheaper for me to get from here. Cheaper prices, shipping not bad, and duty/custom fees included in price, aka none.I've generally found the quality really good. They started carrying regular name brands, but I always stick to their own stuff as I've found good quality (low carb protein for example) and I can custom blend and pick my own flavours. It might not be as good as ProteinFactory, but it's a lot cheaper. Not saying it's the cheapest around, but I think it's a solid quality and a pretty fair price.Tip: Google TrueNutrition coupon code and you'll find dozens of ones that work. They're all either 5-10% off depending on if you go over...I think 10-12 pounds per order.

CWest05ParticipantQuick clarification here – don't mean to hijack the thread – when you guys are talking about an ULC protein, is that just referring to the 10g of isolate in the morning and the pre-work out protein?Or are you taking some of the protein blend with each ULC meal? Thanks!CW

Richard SchmittModeratorNeither. This is for a PWO Shake. I wouldn't take whey in the morning unless you're doing DB.

KenSanderParticipantHis blend he sells on Protein Factory is setup like this45% Ultra Amino 97 Whey Isolate20% Hydrolyzed 14005% Hydrolyzed 52030% PeptoProhttp://proteinfactory.com/shop/Dangerously-Hardcore-Blend-H/But you can obviously just set it up to your personal preference.

Since I am doing DB would you recommend whey in the morning then? Or just stick to the meat/fat meals? I mean..as long as I'm getting adequate protein with some fat and not too few calories, I don't see why whey would be needed at all to preserve muscle mass. CW

I picked up some of the "Premium Natural Flavoring" from TN but to be honest, I really don't mind the natural taste. I have never really cared as much about taste (since I chug it) as I do the actual ingredients. Now, having said that; I picked up some l-arginine from TN and that shit tastes like sour kraut and ditch water, combined.

I use the CFM Whey Isolate for the Accelerator shake(morning) and the pre-workout shake; I am running SA right now.To each his own.
