At the risk of sounding like a dummy, I still don't get it, entirely. Not sure if I am just too used to having diets being much more complicated and stringently attached to hitting exact macros or what – but I REALLLY want to make this work.  Past history…I did CNS for a while but I lost more muscle than I wanted to (followed the 1:1 protocol) so I am looking to try CBL instead. I am currently 295lbs at 23% and goal is to mainly recomp. My natural inclination is to eat a low carb diet which may be why I had little success with CNS. I am starting to think I have dieted so many times in my life my body has completely VERY resistant to any sort of smart dieting strategies. Here is my tentative set up for CBL:Non- Training DayWake Up: Coffee + 1 Tbsp Coconut Oil11am: 6 Jumbo Eggs, 6 slices Bacon + cooked in coconut oil2PM: 10oz Chicken + 1.5 cups Green Beans + 4 tbsp Olive Oil6 or 7PM: 10oz Chicken or Beef + 1.5 cups Green Beans + 4 tbsp Olive Oil9PM: 2 scoop Egg Protein + 4 Tbsp PBTraining Day10 AM: 10oz Chicken + 1.5 cups Green Beans + 4 tbsp Olive Oil12 PM: 10oz Chicken or Beef + 1.5 cups Green Beans + 4 tbsp Olive OilWorkout around 2-3PMPWO Shake: 3 scoops egg protein + Creatine + 3 Very ripe bananas6pm: 10oz Chicken + 2 cups Sweet Potatoes with a 1/4 cup of maple syrup dumped on it or 2 cups White Rice doused in Duck SauceA little while later...A box of Fruity Pebbles and Sweetened Almond MilkI am trying to stay as gluten/dairy free as possible in an effort to help control mucus production which has a negative effect on my asthma. I am currently training an upper/lower split 2x a week, including a couple of accessory days. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions, like I said before, I REALLY want to make this work for me. Thanks!

Nix the Olive Oil. Replace it with Coconut Oil-Milk/MCTs or simply eat fattier cuts of meat. Try for more Beef/less Chicken. When eating Chicken place this around workouts (pre/post) since its easier to digest than Beef generally.

At 23% BF,  CBL may or may not produce great results for you – It is highly recommended to switch to CNS to bring bodyfat levels down before manipulating carbohydrates nightly PWO.  That being said, if you are still going to do CBL, i would substitute half of your eggs for egg whites to avoid a high content of L-Leucine (possible insulin spike). I am assuming you are going to do Strength accumulation, correct?

Yes, I am going for the SA regiment. The reason why I am trying CBL is simply because I have been on low carb or no carb diets for so long that my body seems to simply not respond to it anymore. I am going to give this a few weeks and see how it works. Though it may seem counter-intuitive, it may just be the trick since my body is used to operating at a low carb level. I am hoping the insulin spikes may shake that up a bit.

Well the reason most lo-carb diets/ketogenic diets don't work was explained recently in a podcast, which is why we have a carb nite every week after a prep phase, for those doing the Carb Nite Solution.  I would image CBL would be better nutritional strategy than most popular bodybuilding ones currently available anyhow.
