How safe are chicken wings on a ULC day of Carb Nite? I always eat rotisserie chickens and when thinking about chicken wings its not much different other than the frying/flavoring part. Am i safe to order 12 wings at restaurant as long as they arent bbq or something sweet? I usually just do medium buffalo sauce. I dont think there is breading on most the wings ive had but i wasnt positive…? Thanks Guys

Completely depends on the restaurant and what sauce they use/how they prepare their sauce. Even hot sauces can be loaded with sugar. Also, sometimes when restaurants fry things, they toss them in flour to help crisp up the skin and such.

I usually ask for chicken wings without the sauce. You can ask for blue cheese on the side, and the cool thing about that is that your face and your fingers won't be as sticky or as messy. Or if you have your own low carb sauce you can use that as well. But most restaurants won't give you flack for getting it plain.

Thanks everyone. I ended up baking about 20 wings in some olive oil last night. Seasoned them up with franks and butter – turned out great!

Season salt wings are my go to when I am in a sports bar type place.  They might have a couple grams of sugar, but it shouldn't be too much.  I also make season salt wings all the time when I am ULC.  Hasn't caused me any issues yet.

Makes things alot easier when going out to eat. So When i order wings, just ask for them plain, without sauce (maybe some on side) and make sure they dont use flour when frying or do you not ask that?

Generally regular bone in wings aren't breaded, but it doesn't hurt to ask.  I usually just ask for season salt on the wings.

A buddy of mine at work used to say that on Fridays when he bowled he ate too many chicken wings and it made him fat. When I asked him how many wings he said like 5 or 6. Everyone is different so I have to ask Bob, with you saying the wings you order are a only a few g of sugar, how many do you usually eat when you go out? I am a 4+ lb guy myself so a few g add up quick.RB

I usually eat a dozen of whole wings in one sitting.  As far as your friend saying the wings made him fat that could be because they were drenched in some sugary sauce or he had something else that made fat, but he blamed it on the wings because they are fatty, fried, meat and thus an easy target. If you look at the ingredients in season salt, sugar is listed but it's pretty far down the list.  So much that the nutrition facts typically list the carb content as 0 g.

I only mentioned my friend because it was so laughable that he blamed weight gain on 5 wings and that he considers it alot. I always mock him about it..RB
