My mornings usually look like:8:00/9:00am Coffee9:00-10:30am Training11:00/11:30am Post Workout Combo, which includes coconut oil, leucine, blend H, hydro whey, creatine12:30/1:00 Eat fat/protein(of course, all of those are give or take an hour on any given day)I don't add the carbs because I read in the book that women should consider skipping the carbs post-workout. And I don't really get hungry so I haven't seen the need to have them.

Thanks for the additional info.  Question is:  Why are you taking coconut oil in your post workout shake?

I knew this would come up eventually....I don't have time to do BOTH the ignition and the PWO shake so I kind of throw them into one. It's at about that 12 hour mark (oil) and just after my workout. Am I doing something "unbeneficial"..  ???

Where in the book has he stated that women should not take in carbs directly PWO?  It's been awhile since I've read the book but I couldn't find it.  I didn't find he section on "Training Fasted" and Kiefer states to have SOME carbs PWO, like a ripe banana or something like that.

P185Eat one carb meal post-training and don’t binge.A couple pieces of pizza or a sushi roll or two is more thanplenty. Even consider skipping the carbs in the post-trainingshake and saving them for a single meal (which may includedessert).I train in the mroning so I only take carbs in at night - above he is still refering to an "ideal workout time"

If you're doing oil for the 12 hour mark, the blend H will take care of that.  Try it without for a couple of weeks and see how it goes.  Unbeneficial? The oil will impair the insulin spike that the post workout shake is supposed to induce. Carbs enhance it, but if you're not taking carbs because it was suggested as a modification for women, ok.  But the oil will hamper the insulin spike which you want to induce after your workout to protect your muscles from the catabolic effects of the workout.

ahhhh… (sigh of “interesting” I see…)AHHHH! (just like it sounds)So is the only purpose of the oil to break the fast - there is no other reason to take it? What I'm understanding - and please bear with me, this is not my "field" - is that the Blend H will break the fast AND spike the insulin and the oil is moot. While I have your advice here - if you pop onto my log from today, I was curious about my mid-day meal. Appreciate your help!

Try 1 tablespoon of coconut oil instead at 9.  One tablespoon is 14g (13.8 to be exact).  It's 60-66% MCT, so you'll have 1/3 of it as slower burning fats and will hold you till lunch.  You are kind of like at the borderline there.  You stopped the cardio, right?

Still do a bit of BJJ in the morning 8-9. stopped the long LSD stuff. would have 10g of MCT mixed with 10g of whey isolate if i do bjj if not i was waiting to 11. will change it up so i always have it at 9 now. once i do drop a bit more body fat will in need a bit more mct before lunch? say 10g at 9 then 10g at 11 lunch at 1?

I'm 6'3 205lbs 10% BF and here's what I do in the morning. I eat my last meal the night before around 10pm and then I will not have anything the next day till 10am where I have coffee/coconut oil (1tbsp). I then have coffee/coconut oil/10g isolate at 1230 before I train at 1pm. My PW shake is my first meal besides the AM accelerator shakes. Also I'm doing CNS at the moment

This is an interview Kiefer had with Sean Hyson.  I pasted the parts pertaining to your question phxplay88.http://www.seanhyson.com/blog/carb-backloading-qs-kiefer-as-part-i"Sean: You seem to indicate that training fasted, or on just coffee, is best if training first thing in the morning. So if I train in the morning, should I not have the AM Accelerator Shake you recommend in the book—coconut oil and whey—and why not?Kiefer: No, and my answer is based on a lack of knowledge. If you train fasted first thing in the morning, the upregulation of growth factors for muscle is double what it is if you were to eat before the training session.Sean: We’ve discussed this before and you’ve said that that information is based on only one study. Have you read any more on that since?Kiefer: I unfortunately haven’t. But it’s better safe than sorry.Sean: You mean it would be better to train totally fasted than to even have a little bit of coconut oil before?Kiefer: As far as I know, yes.Sean: I would think the coconut oil would be beneficial, and give you a quick energy boost.Kiefer: Well, that could be the problem. It might be the introduction of any exogenous fuel source that might change that reaction.Sean: So the AM Accelerator Shake is really for guys who are going to train later in the day like you’re ideally supposed to. But you bag that if you have to train in the morning?"Kiefer: That’s correct. It looks like there is lack of research BUT from what is out there it is best to avoid it preWO.

Forgive me but I am little confused. Is that to say if you train first thing in the morning you have:Nothing at all pre workoutOrJust coffee (black?) pre workoutWhat about HWC or butter? Are these also avoided pre workout with the oil or are they ok because they are not digested quickly? Thanks

Train fasted in the morning taking in nothing, if you truly need a pick me up then drink some coffee that's it.

Anything with a caloric value should be avoid before training.
