TokyoLifterMemberI read somewhere in the forum that a high protein diet basically teaches the body to turn to protein for the energy it needs. Is there anything that I have to look out for when switching to CBL? Maybe lowering the protein intake slowly over a short time, or will the body just switch to fat for energy when it doesn't get the protein as before? I am 195lbs at about 12% bf right now, so I am taking in roughly the same amount in fats and protein, getting this high up in fat is still hard for me, but I feel quite comfortable with lowering the protein to be honest. Getting in ~200g of protein is really a piece of cake. ;D

MJCMemberhow high was your protein intake and whats your training volume like? I still take in 1.5 grams per bw with good results but my training volume is very high and Ive found this to be the right amount with years of trial and error.

Well depending on the diet up to 400g of protein per day, so roughly 2-2.5g/lb, training 5-6 times a week. Fat was still in there, around 70-90g per day, and then some carbs pwo or non at all, depending on the goal. I realized that even now on CBL I "accidentally" shoot over the 1g/lb pretty easily, lol.

Especially when you are used to eating 500g+ of chicken breast in one sitting, lol.... I had times when I had a kilogram of chicken for lunch. 😮

Brandon D ChristParticipant“The high protein diet teaches your body to burn protein” only occurs when you are consuming like 70%+ of your calories from protein and not getting enough fat. It is essentially rabbit starvation or protein poisoning, and despite what Kiefer thought, it was not invented by Dr. Oz! One of the side effects are muscle wasting.

Well, not that I haven't been doing that... sometimes more like 90% protein.... 😮 😮Well, glad these times are over now and hope my body will re-adjust.

Gl;itch.eMemberYou could run the prep phase or Carb Nite for awhile to get “fat adapted” if you dont feel youve adjusted properly.

MJCMemberis most of that from food or powder? I try and get .8-1 from food and then the rest from powder so its not that hard on the digestive system… I just try and not let protein go over 50% in meals by calories. Everyone is different but training 6 days a week you can probably get away with more protein than most…
