Haha, done it. The after taste was certainly there though. GROSS

You need more water then.Get some water in your mouth, dump it in the chug more water.

tried that.. not worth it lol.. i can take some nasty stuff as too.. hell i been drinking a glass of water every morning with 2.5g of ALCAR which tastes basically like mixture of salt water and vinegar.. but i can't shotgun leucine.. i actually dropped the extra leucine.. didn't find any benefit in it and found no good way to mix it anyway

Really?  I actually think leucine is the most beneficial supplement I ever took after caffeine and creatine.  Anyways take it in a shaker cup or even make capsules.

was adding it to my shakes for months don't feel it made any difference at all.. not enough to make it worth the cost and taste

If you are getting enough protein overall I cant imagine it makes a huge difference. Sano is probably only adding it during his meals (of which there are few) Leucine would be very beneficial throughout the day if people got over their fear of “spiking insulin”

mostly yea.. although i was doing the leangaines approach of having BCAAs during the fasting period but didn't feel it made any difference to be worth the cost.. never tried just isolated leucine during my fasting but don't see that making a big difference compared to doing the full BCAA.. but like you said if your overall protein is adequate i don't see it making that much of a difference

Has for me.  Plus numerous studies show adding leucine to protein results in more protein synthesis PWO, it also increases the insulin response of a meal.  Plus I would imagine free form leucine behaves differently than leucine in an intact protein.

i can show numerous studies showing HMB alone can improve protein synthesis as well but never noticed much with that either and was damn expensive to take 3g+ a day... i'm not saying it's not working for you just for me even if it was doing something it wasn't enough imho to warrant the price/cost and pain of taking the powder or capping it.

Another interesting thing about Hydrolysates, Isolates, Leucine and Eggs I've learned. They each can cause an insulin spike. That can be helpful or hurtful depending on the person, the timing and the goals. Here is Kiefer's tubecast about it:http://athlete.io/3072/one-factor-that-could-affect-your-insulin-on-carb-backloading/

Oh I dont disagree at all. Though most of those studies use small doses of protein (20-30g) I add Leucine (and BCAAs) to my shakes, but my shakes are only Casein these days so the quick spike in Leucine that would have arrived with Whey is made up for with the free aminos (which incidentally dont have as quick absorption as many would imagine, hydrolysates are quicker)

Well I was responding to Gl;tche.  I would never tell someone to take a supplement if they don't believe it was working for them.  I was just saying that I believe it works for me and that there are studies that back up my belief.

i did want to add i only tried one brand of the pure leucine.. perhaps another brand is worth looking into as I have definitely had better effects of the same exact supplement between brands

Pure Leucine is really cheap.. Definitely beneficial for MPS, and in regards to a ULC PWO Shake great for getting a good rise of insulin without Carbs.

yea but 200-300mg of caffeine mixes well with other things.. so does 200-300mg of leucine.. but 5g is a whole other story..

I don't think so at all. I take 5g leucine w/ 5g creatine mixed in <2oz water and shoot it back. I put 200mg caffeine into my 10oz PWO shake that has dextrose AND flavoring in it, and it completely kills the shake and makes me want to gag.

lol that's funny because leucine does the same thing for me and i have 200-300mg of powder caffeine in my pre-workout mix i can't taste at all

TCB what type of Leucine are you using?? Pure Leucine by nature is hardly Soluble, and has a foul taste. Are you sure your using pure Leucine?
