Travis CaruanaParticipantStarting CBL post-christmas and i've read through CBL 1.0 twice now but am still slightly confused. In chapter 47 Kiefer says to NOT eat junk food post-workout for CBL (triple cheeseburgers etc) but in the very next chapter states that he "recommends junk for a reason".So what "junk" is acceptable and what is not?

TCBParticipantBy saying you should eat junk, he is meaning the things that are widely considered as junk; as in the stuff that is highly insulinotropic/high-GI.There's a big difference between that kind of "junk" and the "junk" that is just highly processed fake food ingredients/chemicals. EG: a fresh made turnover is a better option than a twinkie.

Yea, it's confusing, but this right. I think Kiefer should have gave examples of good and bad Carb Nite foods in the book.

Travis CaruanaParticipantThanks for your replies – that makes a bit more sense. And to clarify - I have my PWO shake (as outlined in CBL), wait an hour - then have a high carb meal according to the data in the manual (for me its around 200g carbs). After that meal I'm back on low carb-high fat till bed then rinse/repeat?Also he mentions that carbs interrupt Gh release during sleep so is there an "optimal" time to stop eating carbs prior to sleep?

Yep. Or you could do it in 2 meals. Up to you.And I'd consume your last carb ~2hrs before bed.. That's my rule of thumb, anyway.. any closer to bedtime and I can often feel my heart pounding while I lay in bed.

Travis CaruanaParticipantDamn… If I train At 4pm and consume my PWO shake around 5:30 – that means im really only going to get time to have 1x carbmeal (@6:30-7pm) prior to bedtime at 10.

you can eat them right before bed as long as they don't bother you.. i have no issues with carbs directly before bed

CBachelor17MemberRight, you might also want to read the articles like Protein doesn't make you fat on the main page. Keifer suggests a lower fat (yet still “junk”) meal at the beginning and IF your going to eat fatty trashy carbs eat those last. Sheds light on eating you white rice as your dinner meal and have a donut if you want before bed.

Chapter 38 in the book covers it pretty well

This is simple. Don't be a fat kid meaning don't simply use CBL and an excuse to go get a large pizza, a 2 liter of coke, and a milk shake to wash it down, and don't eat garbage food. Go for a high end pizza joint rather then a frozen pizza. A sit down restaurant for a burger rather then McDonalnds.

jaybesuscustMemberFair enough guys. I realise its all in there, but some of it should be spelt out a bit clearer from the off.

It is perfectly clear, read not skim through it.
