CBachelor17MemberAnyone currently using Cortisol Blockers? Any success? My thoughts are they might have negative side effects as far as CNS goes. Being that cortisol manipulation to burn fat is in play. As for CBL- I think there could be potential benefits, as the cortisol blocking would aid in the prevention of muscle breakdown. Just looking for thoughts and input from anyone who may currently be using one.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorWell in the morning cortisol will work to break fat down while on CBL.In the evening it should be lower anyway. Also, the reascher shows a correlation in higher total cortisol during the training session and total muscle mass gained. http://athlete.io/4967/the-cortisol-challenge/

CBachelor17MemberNot looking for a product. Just wanted to discuss the use of them on this protocol (CBL). Which I now confirmed my thoughts that as on CN is probably left alone. Thanks though!

Brandon D ChristParticipantDo cortisol blocker supplements even work? It seems like only drugs can do that.

from what I have read only one that seems to actually work to suppress cortisol that's not prescription is Phosphatidyl serine

CBachelor17MemberTo some degree I think they do, their are a number of products that have good qualities to them. But i think that the process metabolic and hormonal process that “we” run on CBL and esp. CN relies on Cortisol being able to act naturally and undisturbed in the body. Meaning that blocking it could result in <optimal results from the program.

Cortisol is definitely a much need hormone.. issues is with chronic stress, lack of sleep, and constant exercise many people just have way to much pumping through them.. i'd be curious to see if something like PS would work if someone perhaps only took it around their workouts for a few months.. may actually try that myself

CBachelor17MemberAt the same time though, cortisol is being used for fat loss during the day, and workout. MPS is regulated with the Accelerators, and Protein meals. So it would seem that blocking cortisol would inhibit the fat burning process, and could result in the pulling of FFA more for energy right? Those were my thoughts… esp on CN, less on CBL but the same idea would apply. CN your going for longer periods ULC, Cortisol is being manipulated throughout each day, and through the week.

PS doesn't completely block cortisol just lowers it.. might be worth a try for some people

CBachelor17MemberCertainly some people with stress issues, or known cortisol issues could probably benefit from reduced cortisol. But any cortisol “blocker” isn't going to completely block cortisol, but just reduce it.

Brandon D ChristParticipantPeople need to fix their lifestyle. A pill is rarely the solution and if it is, generally you pay dearly for it with side effects.

+1Therapeutic doses are how they should be used.Or, in the case of late night training, cortisol blunters can be helpful in getting you back "down" more quickly so you can get to sleep sooner. That being said, I didn't feel like PS did anything for me when taken after playing hockey in the late evening..Also, Holy Basil is an herb that is touted to have cortisol blunting effects. Haven't tried it, though.
