BigJesKeymasterHello Everyone! I'm looking for some advice on when the optimal times to Backload are for me, based on my crazy schedule. I'm a regional truck driver and usually leave out on my routes at night and get back late in the morning. I'll usually sleep for 6-8 hours, then wake up and train about an hour later on an empty stomach (I have a cup of coffee, a 200 mg caffeine pill, and a piece of nicotine gum before training). Post workout I'll have a whey hydrosolate/whey isolate shake with about 30 grams of high glycemic carbs (mostly dextrose), 15 grams of creatine, and 5 grams of leucine. The rest of the day I'll go low carb until about 5-6 hours before I go to sleep, then I'll start back-loading. I've made really good progress doing this, not even being that strict. I started at 285lbs, and am now down to 255, at 6'6″. I've lost some strength, bench press went from 315×7 reps to 315×3 reps, but considering the fat loss I've been okay with some strength loss. I've pretty much plateaued the last two months and am trying to optimize my backloads. I usually train EOD or 2 days on/1 off, but on average I make it to the gym about 4 times a week. My goal is to continue to lean out, without losing much more strength. I'm thinking 235 would be pretty lean for me. Any suggestions on when I should do my backloads in conjunction with my training days would be greatly appreciated. I pretty much have been backloading almost everyday. I know to lean out more, I'll need to be more strict. Sorry for the novel! I guess my question is should I backload on days that I train, or should I backload the day before I train? Thanks in advance!

CBachelor17MemberIf your looking to loose more fat, and the way you were doing it has worked until now, that means you need to drop the size of your backloads (i.e. lower your daily kcal intake). And/or don't backload daily. It will take manipulation but if you suddenly stopped dropping it means your intake is now lined up with maintenance for your body. So to loose you have to drop that intake a little more.

BigJesGuestThanks! Since I train shortly after I wake up, do you think I should backload the night before I train, or later in the day after I train?

CBachelor17MemberIf your trying to cut, do a sans carb PWO Shake in the morning, then do carbs at night. So stay ULC throughout the day.
