Brandon D ChristParticipantWhat do you all think of this article? http://suppversity.blogspot.com/2012/04/supercharging-creatine-with-baking-soda.htmlI came across this after I discovered that mixing d-aspartic acid with baking soda produces a VERY soluble solution of sodium aspartate, which is what they actually use in the studies on aspartic acid. If you ever used aspartic acid you will know that it does not dissolve in water. I decided to do some digging on baking soda and found that that expensive Krealkalyn can made by just mixing monohydrate and baking soda. I just wanted to increase the solubility of creatine, but then I saw this article and it claims that baking soda actually enhances the creatine. Interesting stuff, though I am concerned about consuming 40 g baking soda and what that will do to the pH of my stomach.

decoy5657MemberI take Krealkalyn. I much prefer it to gobs of sandy creatine. I think I hear Kiefer talk about this at some point... or someone... I can't recall, sorry...But basically, I think you'll spend a lot of time on the throne if you take a lot of baking soda. It's one of those "work up to it" things.

AlcaParticipantIt actually works…there was a protocol floating around which recommends a usage of 2:1 Baking Soda (Sodium hydrogen carbonate) : CreatineThis is a preworkout booster... and you need to gradually increase since most people cant handle large dosis of the Soda.for example10g baking soda5g Creatineit does work really good

I actually heard Robb Wolf and Greg Everett comment on this in a recent podcast. According to Robb, the baking soda should only be used during a competition because it decreases the stimulus from training. I can't remember what context he was referring to, but I think he said it is because baking soda neutralizes lactic acid in the muscles.

decoy5657MemberI started using Kre-Alkalyn (cheap on amazon) and have been thrilled with it. Check into it.
