StMichaelGuestfor those of us who cant afford to rush out and buy the latest supliment…. and already have a sack of dextrose… how many grams is considered.. dilute! Should we continue using in smaller amounts.. like 10g…. in post workout shakes… to avoid this osmoregularity problem….?

tzanghiParticipantI'm able to use dextrose intra-WO without any blood sugar problems. I generally mix 20-40g of dextrose with 12.5g hydrolysates and 30g isolates and 5g creatine. I believe the isolates slow down digestion enough to avoid huge spikes in blood sugar.

JakeMemberJust tried some strawberry kiwi glycofuse yesterday during my workout. First off stuff is delicious. I only used half a scoop though since it was a light workout but I did notice less muscle fatigue towards the end. Looking forward to trying a full scoop tomorrow during a harder workout.

Yeah lucky you... dextrose is like 1/30th the price or glycofuse lol

Yes I cannot afford glycofuse or vitargo right now lol, but I find that dextrose doesn't provide that much energy. I have only noticed an increase in energy once or twice with consumption of dextrose intra-workout, so I don't think it works as well overall. My main problem is that all my tough compound stuff comes first, and that's when I need my energy, but I like to wait at least until my first set is over to take advantage of GLUT4 upregulation. Kind of a catch 22.I've never tried them, but I'd bet the HBCDs provide better energy production.

JakeMemberWhat do you guys think about doing CNS but using glycofuse during the workout?
February 23, 2013 at 10:10 pm #95307
MikehrMemberPWO it would be ok but on CNS you wanna be burning fat during the workout and taking carbs intra would do the opposite

Well that's why I'd be taking it intra. I'd still be in a fat burning mode other than my workouts. Obviously wouldn't be as effective for burning fat as fast but I imagine it would still be an effective protocol for having solid workouts while on CNS.

MikehrMemberYes the issue is that your ingesting a lot of fat that needs to be burned off somehow, so you want that to be the primary fuel source.

Isn't the same goal as CBL? I agree that total fat burned would not be as much as you would burn not having intra-workout carbs but do you really think taking in 25 grams of carbs during a couple workouts a week during CNS would prevent fat loss? I guess that's what I'm trying to get at.

No definitely not but it changes the diet, ULC days are more of a hormonal scenario that burns the fat, hence why people can eat soo many ULC cals and lose fat when you include those carbs it makes this process a lot harder IMO.If you look at my log I tried it for a while and saw much better results with the glycofuse pwo rather than intra because post was used directly for replenishing glycogen rather than an energy source.-Mike
