Sammy SpiegelmanParticipantKiefer mentioned on the interview podcast he did about a detox diet for people. I think it was grass fed beef, eggs and peppers. Anyone know anything more about this?

This actually releases all the nasty stuff you might have stored in your fat cells into your system. You could be storing lots of toxins, which might make you sick if you lose weight fast.

Which in the end will detox you. =]I do agree it's the reason why you might want to control your fat loss.

zewskiMemberjust to clarify OP, kiefer also includes bacon.I'm curious though, in episode 7 Kiefer mentions that it would be unwise to use just the food choices instead of the whole protocol which includes a high fish oil dosage, and most likely other things. What would be so bad about just limiting your food choices to this protocol on say CNS?

monsieurjkbMemberwhenever I hear the word 'detox' my Bullshit-o-meter goes wild. Is there a way of empirically measuring 'toxins'? How can you be sure that your body fat 'contains toxins'?

zewskiMemberI'd just point you to the bulletproofexec.comHe seems pretty convinced on the topic and presents info way better than I could ever explain it.

Right. He's the one that I hear use it most. Though he has lots of good info that I agree with, I'm still very suspicious...Detox is always thrown out as a catch all explanation for things Asprey has no idea how to explain. Armi seems better informed than Dave.Feel like shit without carbs? Oh must be your cells detoxing. Best buy my absurdly high quality glutathione and other products. For someone who supposedly came to this diet through scientific research, the guy has very little scientific literacy. He's great on the business end though. Perhaps he'd be a good complement for Kiefer... ;D

How could it not? Even certain vitamins have different solubility and can be stored. Now take all the chemicals and actual toxins in the air, water, and food (which besides additives is effected by the air and water)

Still, what I'm getting at is this is just conjecture. Your reasoning sounds good enough, but it lacks any evidence. That some dietary vitamins are dietary fat-soluble does not say anything about the possibility for 'toxins' to be soluble/stored in (body) fat. You say: 1. vitamins can be fat/water soluble.2. chemicals and toxins exist in water and air.3. water/air quality has some effect on real food. Conclusion: ??? I don't doubt that some unfavorable substances exist in food, I just want someone to cite data on the existence of these substances, whether in a living person's body fat or in food (like those studies on heavy metals in shitty whey protein... they measured actual chemicals not just 'toxins'). Also, my questions still stand^the more I think about it, a detox diet of meat and fat would just help you lose body fat, keep your gut free from bad stuff completely, and reduce inflammation (like robb wolf's autoimmune protocol). Its a strict paleo diet with 'detox' labeling.

Cool how soon?I'm guessing that Keifer and Naomi are just playing into the very reasons I wince at the term 'detox.' It attracts attention and sounds better than 'fat loss diet' or 'anti-inflammatory diet.'

zewskiMemberOn the most recent podcast Kiefer said “this week” so technically it should be out already haha.
