Is Optimum Nutrition's Glycomaize a good product if I were to switch from Dextrose to WM? If not, could someone post one better and why it's better, please?THANKS!  8)

I went to GNC yesterday and they didn't have any Waxy Maize. I'll try Vitamin Shoppe today. Thanks!

if you are lean enough...  you will be able to see better results using waxy or karbolin ie  leaner and more vascular

care to explain why you think this would be?

personal experience and those I know who switched from dextrose to WMS...

I meant more method of action. What do you think the difference is physiologically speaking that is making such a big difference?

I'd say its good. It's one of the cheaper products and just as effective. It is unflavored though and kind of messy if your not careful.

Well I use iso100 vanilla protein, creatine and leucine in my pwo, would you suggest getting a flavored one or the unflavored?

Its all personal preference my friend. I personally didn't mind the unflavored Glycomaize. I mixed it with a chocolate flavored whey isolate and it was good. Its not one of those bad tasting 'unflavored' powders either. It mostly just adds a thick consistency to your shake which I like. A little bit of an after taste texture but nothing horrible.

yeah…  it tastes fine…  but is a not a good product and wont give you the benefits of a better high molecular weight carb powder…  Glycomaize would probably be better used preworkout as its slower released or maybe during with bcaas…  but its not really what you want as a pwo shake for CBL…  Look for a WMS which has a high amylopectin content(its not listed on glycomiaze)…  Bio engeneering they sell at most places, I think Dynamatize or whatever makes one too called fluid

Ya I just read the label more closely for Glycomaize and noticed it has Waxy Maize Starch (good) but they mixed in Trehalose (not so good) which elicits a lower insulin response than glucose. As MJC pointed out, thats what makes it a better preworkout/intraworkout supplement than post workout. Of course, like most supp companies, its a proprietary blend so who knows what the actual ratio of waxy maize and trehalose could be.

Just for the record I like Waxy Maize but am in no way implying that Dextrose isn't a good option especially for the price. I find it funny how life works but I'm now thinking about going back to a product I once swore off…CellTech. Back when my diet was much more all over the place this product definitly helped but with muscle but also helped with fat. However, if implemented into CBL correctly its a very ideal product and oddly enough one of MuscleTech's less expensive products. I usually stay away because of their price and how everything is a proprietary blend of who knows how much of what. In this case however you get a good 75grams of high quality Dextrose along with 10g of high quality Creatine and numerous other beneficial supps and its not a horrible price. Although going to truenutrition.com and making your own is still usually way cheaper.
