Would dextrose alone be better or worse than pastries for backloading?

There was a whole thread about the topic of the PERFECT backload with just Dextrose. The conclusion (which is still open) is that it would be a good to give you that insulin bump every few hours. It just not fun, and actually sucks! Would you rather have a spoon full of dextrose or a turnover?

I'm one of those 'food is fuel' types so it doesn't bother me 😉 Could anyone direct me to that thread? Much appreciated

Food is fuel, true.  But pastries are just fracking delicious!  I'm down with whole food anyday over powder.  Any powders I need will be judiciously mixed with peanut oil and injected into a glute of choice.

Besides anything junky like pastries is still going to have more nutrition than pure dextrose/sugar. It might be a small amount of nutrition but its still "some vs none"

Yeah, but unless you make them yourself, they have bad stuff in that counterbalances any good stuff 😉And I feel silly making a cake and adding butter to it when I know that might not help my progress

If you eat that cake a bit later in the backload the butter WILL help your progress. 🙂

By increasing the AUC (Area Under the (insulin)Curve). Kiefer has stated that the people who include fat in their backloads do better than those who don't, and in the high tech nutrient article he said you only have to limit fat in the first part of the backload.

Thanks, I'd be interested to read the theory if you have a link?

It seems I can not access this link. Since I was wondering the same thing, could someone maybe tell me more about it? Is it alright to just use Dextrose for a backload? Any conclusions yet?Sorry for digging this up
