This was recently posted in the DH facebook group. I thought I would put it here for people to read. Someone could put it in the CBL forum too. "For pure fat loss, you need a ratio of protein cal:fat cal of roughly 1:1. That means you'll intake roughly 1/2 the amount of fat by mass. So, calculate your protein needs (which I put at 1 g/lb of your goal body weight; so if you weigh 210 and you want to be 190, you'd eat 190 g protein/day), so, as Tony's back-of-the-envelope calculation says, that'd be about 1/2 g per pound of target body weight worth of fat each day. This is a baseline. You may be able to eat more fat; possibly less depending on how long you've been adapted to a ketogenic diet or how much body fat you have to lose."https://www.facebook.com/groups/286288743628/permalink/10151221973568629/?comment_id=10151222224033629&offset=0&total_comments=36

This may be my ignorance here, but these posts are sounding more and more just like a standard “diet” to me. Isnt CBL SA a "leaning out" diet? I can understand if people are looking to push it to the next level, and really experiment w/  CBL to try and get as lean as possible, but this talk of you eat .5g of fat, and 1g of CHO/ lb LBM is sounding to me like just another way of saying "cut your calories"......I understand that you cant just discount the amount of food you are eating, but shit, this seems to be getting away from CBL, and going back to just....dieting....

All diets revolve around cutting calories. Some just make those cuts easier to bear or not having to be so drastic. Honestly, the best part of CBL/CNS in my opinion is it gets people to be more relaxed about their diet, that it is possible to eat junk and food that tastes good. Its helping to dispel the myth that you need to eat certain things to lose weight.

mmmmm I dont know if Kiefer would agree. If that post is all there is to it, then CBL is just a IIFYM w/ a little of nutrient timing thrown in there…..I think Kiefer would be pretty offended.

Maybe, but thats how i see it. Also, this is for pure fatloss, so tweaking could be it through a recomp. But this is from the kiefers own words.

Awe someone beat me to this! This is a pretty major tweak….I have been involved in the convo on the Facebook page and just now thought to put it over here! You guys are quick! So my intake on CNS right now is 180 pro and fat…now it's going to change drastically. However, as was mentioned earlier, Kiefer did say this was for pure fat loss so 1:1 could still be effective.

Exactly. Also Mwachtel, its on facebook, I linked to it in my original post.

I'm doing CNS right now with more fat then protein, but close to 1:1, currently I'm seeing results really quickly so I'm not gonna worry about changing, but I'd imagine this would be good for very quick fat loss, almost to the point of crash diet with a possible chance in lose of muscle mass, or for people who don't train at all.

1:1 in what? this is 1:1 in calories, not grams. A very important detail.

    Sorry, in grams.

Wasn't all the recommendations in terms of using CBL? I believe it would be very different considering it's keto, no?

"For pure fat loss, you need a ratio of protein cal:fat cal of roughly 1:1. That means you'll intake roughly 1/2 the amount of fat by mass. So, calculate your protein needs - 145lb -  so, as Tony's back-of-the-envelope calculation says, that'd be about 1/2 g per pound of target body weight worth of fat each day - so wouldn't half a gram per pound of 145lb worth of fat be 90g of fat? Does this mean I would need 145g of protein and 90g of fat?

I've been doing .8g of fat and .8g of protein per day.  So about 116g of EACH. Which one is correct? I apologize ahead of time if I'm not reading it right.... :-
