Brandon D ChristParticipantI'm not sure why this was so hard to understand for people. Start at 1:1g ratio...if it's not working how you like it, start lowering fat. This applies to both CBL/CNS, though for CNS which is essentially a CKD, keeping the fat up is kinda necessary if you're resistance training and/or doing cardio. You'll crash and burn otherwise.I'm doing a CBL SA phase and I keep my ratio's 1:1g on ULC day's and on CBL days for HALF the day, once I start back loading I'm focusing on getting CARBS in, which is kinda the whole point of a back load. CARBS. Unless you're just eating Brioche, Croissants and deep fried junk, this means your fat is going to be significantly lower on CBL days.Experiment and adjust things for yourself off your OWN progress. It's not rocket surgery.Oh and butter + coffee is f'in amazing. I gotta say though, most of the time I actually prefer the CO over Butter. Then again I could probably eat a stick of butter by itself no problem. And blending is pretty much necessary, only because if you don't you run out of CO/Butter too quickly and then have to just drink the coffee sans deliciousness.
Require people to listen to their body and do a little work? What non sense are you speaking? Then they can't blame Kiefer if they aren't getting progress!

Ha! Unfortunately that's what it comes down to for most people! lame!!

Ah, rocket surgery. Perhaps the hardest medical science of all.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;DI agree with the others, sitting there on your fat ass, and blaming someone else for why you are still fat is probably the reason why you got fat in the first place. Time to check yourself and start taking responsibility and control.

Felix E FaulParticipantHow important is the question concerning gluceoneogenesis when I shift the macros to 1g protein and 0.5g fat? Doesn't this lead to that the body begins to form glycogen from the fed protein?I'm not an expert - just asking.

You're not eating straight protein, and if you're still eating the recommended foods from the book or these forums. You won't have to worry about gluceoneogensis. Add butter/coconut oil to eggs, and eat beef. The fatty portion of those meats will keep the insulin spikes down. Don't concern yourself with the macros or anything, just don't eat carbs for a week, or shoot for very little, (like I said above) add butter/coconut oil to eggs, eat beef, take some good quality fish oil and THEN get the carbs in once a week. If you're wanting to track macros, get 1g/target BW for Proteins.

Russell FulksParticipantBig Tex,Did you ever get any clarification on this for CNS instead of CBL? It seems like this would not work for CNS because of the ridiculously low caloric intake you'd have?

Not going to lie, I personally did not get any type of clarification through Kiefer. HOWEVER, through the podcast and what it going around Facebook, what he said in the Podcast, it correct. Now my opinion on it, that you should try to get protein to match .8-1g/BW or target weight. For fats, I wouldn't worry about adding ANY unnecessary butter or coconut oil to foods. UNLESS it is eggs, then add a tablespoon to off-set the Leucine and Insulin Spikes. If you choose to chicken or fish, then add a little bit. But honestly, if you still to beef (which most have at least 4g of fat or more) you'll be alright. This opinion is for CNS/ULCFor CBL, I can personally say that cutting your fats in half of your target BW or actual BW will HELP WITH PURE FAT LOSS. Getting 1g/BW of protein. The reason I say this, is because the last 6+weeks of my CBL SA Journey I did this, my whole 12 Weeks on CBL SA I lost over 5lbs with all my Mains increasing. I did lose fat. So it works.

were you still 1:1 grams per ULC meal? meaning just didn't have much fat during backloads to make the total day half of your half your target BW fat in grams?or your ULC meals favored more protein?

Richard SchmittModeratorNo wasn't 1:1 in my meals nor still is. Just add fats to eggs and that's it. And yes I didn't have much fats during my backloads because I focused on baked sweet potatoes and white rice. Also made my own GF desserts and had one serving each backload.

Ulam25MemberIf I were to be doing CBL SA to gain muscle, while losing some fat… not JUST trying to lose fat as a priority… should I strive for the 1:1? or just try to eat red meat, bacon, eggs with butter, sausage, etc?

LumberJackedMemberI stuck with the 1:1 ratio doing CBL SA. You can check out my one month mark results in the results section. Actually towards the end I had my fat higher than protein, but that's only because I find I run better on more fat.

I would eat less than 1:1.

It's pretty hard for me to have a 1:1 ratio during backload days more then maybe once a week. I just can stomach that many fatty carbs.
