DerekcervaParticipantWell the toe of sweetener is why it does, I've read that suclarose is entirely excreted by the body, so if it seems to be a better choice, of course still in moderation

steve_76MemberFor fat loss avoid any soda, diet or otherwise. There have been reports that diet soda is even worse for you than regular soda. Artificial sweetener are apparently worse for you than actual sugar. Also anything with High fructose syrup or glucose syrup, as it also known as, should be avoided. This stuff will put on the fat and it is hard to get rid of it. This means that a lot of energy drinks are out of the question as well.
Kiefers article explains it as it is different dependent on the person. I agree that it shouldn't be consumed on a nonstop basis but having a few here or there isn't going to totally derail progress. My biggest concern would be to make sure you're getting enough water in to balance out the diet soda. I would limit them to backloads, your CN, or one or two a week.
So arftificial sweeteners are ok when backloading then? I'm bot an expert, but I'm not totally convinced. High fructose corn syrup(HFCS) is highly modified from it's natural state making it more harmful. The same rule would apply to trans fats like hydrogenated oil, maragarine. In short they HFCS promotes fat storage because it is not processed in the way other sugars are.

RoadglideMemberThere is no hfcs in diet coke or coke zero. Ace k in the zero

I wouldn't lump HFCS in the "artificial sweetener" category. Yeah, it's a mutant zombie product that doesn't even resemble nature anymore, but it's still not usually lumped in. I think by "artificial sweeteners" most people will refer to sucralose, stevia, erythritol, etc. And via that lens, they are probably BETTER to use during BL's, simply for the fact that if they DO create an insulin reaction in your body, at least that's what you're trying for anyway. But, pure glucose should be the goal.

Yes you are right there isn't any, but as I said in my first post you should avoid artificial sweeteners, also HFCS are to be avoided. Obviously this is if fat loss is your goal. If not then go for it in moderation.

RoadglideMemberSo no stevia in morning coffee?
August 31, 2013 at 3:58 am #199548
heychikadeeParticipantI don't agree that stevia is an artificial sweetener. It's a herb so it's as natural as it gets surely? Though some of the more commercial stevia products out there do have questionable fillers so always need to check ingredients label.

Richard SchmittModeratorStevia and Erythitol (to me) are perfectly safe to use.

RoadglideMemberSounds good. Trader joes has a fairly stripped down version

kiefer does advice using the tablet forms over the packets though..

steve_76MemberAny thoughts on diet coke in the morning? I CAN'T do black coffee.
Rather than drink Coke etc. Have water and some fat burners. No need for soda.

That's only because the packets are usually cut with malto/dextrose. If you get a product that the only ingredient is stevia, the powder is fine.

DerekcervaParticipantpersonally i have never seen a packet without fillers
