I'm currently running the Justa Singles protocol for my deadlift.  For those not familiar it's a well-known 7 day/week program where you're doing deadlifts with about 70% of your max for anywhere from 3-15 reps depending on the day while adjusting the weight every week, so on “off” days (days where I don't squat and press as well) this means I do nothing but the deadlifts and a hard sprint workout (anywhere from 10-20 minutes in duration).  Question is, does the deadlift/sprint workout call for a backload the night before? (I do AM training)-Adam

Not generally but if you are at the point of doing quite a few deadlifts heavy then you could experiment with it, but sprinting does not generally require a backload itself.I would experiment with a small backload the night before and see how you go

Thanks sckiely.  I'm thinking that at the least the sprint workouts will kind of combat the effects of any unnecessary backloading if that makes sense, and best-case scenario is it will actually help get more gains and recomp from the Deadlift/Sprint Days.  Think that seems reasonable?  Btw, when I backload it's 100% with organic yams, so it's not like I'm pounding down the cookies or anything.-Adam

You're sprint workouts will not necessitate a backload, at all. If you're going to “earn” a backload on those days, it'll be because of your deadlifts. So do your deadlifts warrant a backload??? Who knows. Give a shot and judge from there.Long story short, I agree with sckiely lol
