FairyGuestYou can't over do a Carb Nite, only a Back Load. Eat as much as you can on a Carb Nite 🙂

Richard SchmittModeratorI can look at this and tell you, no that it doesn't look bad, how'd it make you feel and look the next morning?

Alan TorellMemberI would stick one good whack of protein in during the first half. Probably got just a little with the Cali rolls, but you did workout so your muscles need a good sustained amino acid resource. Maybe the pwo shake is enough, but I'm not sure about that.

Sherylea HurstParticipantI think I misunderstood. It is carb backloading that uses roughly 1 gram of carbs per lb of bodyweight? I felt ok this morning but I woke up through the nite a few times needing water. So just to be clear on carb nite it is best to eat low fat simple carbs first and then if I wanted to finish off the night with a fatty carb such as ice cream and NO limits on this? If I wanted to add one more carb nite during the week how would I know if I should do this? What are some signs that might warrant this and if so does that second carb nite have to be more controlled? Thanks for all your replies as I am just learning and this helps out greatly 🙂

FairyGuestYou need to over eat low fat carbs 3pm-6pm, then over eat fatty carbs 6-pm-9/10/11 pm. This is not optional. You need as much of an insulin spike as possible. Whey isolate, hydrolyse and leucine are the best protein sources on CN, but not essential. No, don't do an extra CN. Just do it once a week for now until you feel like you know your body enough to make the judgement call.

Sherylea HurstParticipantThank you Fairy. What bodyfat did you start out with prior to CN? So on carbnite there is no need at all do try and figure out grams ect….? What does a typical Carbnite look like for you? Thanks

FairyGuestNo need to try to figure out grams etc on CN at all. That's only necessary for CBL. I also don't pay any attention to calories during the week. Maybe when I get down to 15% I'll reconsider, but right now I leave regulating calories up to my hunger signals. Fat & protein is very satiating. The best carb nites I've had (in terms of visible results the next day) have been high in doughnuts, ice cream, cup cakes and processed rice pudding. I'm not sure what my BF% pre-CN was. I'm guessing about 23%, now down to 19%... That took 4 months, and I certainly haven't been perfect (my high fat CNs are testament to that 😉 ).

Gonna have to disagree with this, the less proccessed supplements we can consume and the morereal food we can eat the better, I have seen very noticeable physique improvements from limiting shakes to only around the workout every other time of the day is real food, if you want lean sources just do fish, chicken, egg whites and very lean beef.

FairyGuestDuring the first 3 hrs of CN you want everything to be super fast absorbing. The aim of CN is also to send insulin through the roof. Meat just can't do this like iso, hydro + leucine can.

I get most of my protein during CN from whey shakes, as they spike insulin, and leave more room for shitty foods to get that hormonal response from my CN. I haven't had a problem.Cory

FairyGuestBut Mike is right about using meat/fish/eggs for ULC meals, even post workout, 30 min after your shake.

Oh, totally, for ULC... but, not for CN meals. I prefer shakes.Cory
