SakecatMemberSo I am usually a really disciplined guy but last night was my carb night and the one or two drinks I was supposed to have turned into a full night of drinking dancing and carbs. I made sure I ate carbs and I know I got allot of carbs from the beer I was drinking. In one of his videos Kiefer says that more than one or two drinks screws up the progress you have made. This morning I was laughing at him because when I weighted in i was at my floor weight. The lowest I have ever been after carb night has always been a few lbs more than my floor weight. How ever now I am thinking it was due to dehydration. As today I went out with my hiking group and when I got to the water fall we were hiking to I instantly hit the cooler and pounded four waters. So what is the reason for not drinking heavily on carb night?? the not drinking all week is easy for me but when I am out cutting loose I like to go for it what can I say. Dollar beers dose not help either but hey. The other thing I want to know about drinking is actually Also in relation to my hiking group. We are actually a "drinking club with a running problem". While we actually do more hiking out here in Hawaii than running but needless to say a large portion of it centers around drinking. Now i have been a FN saint and not had a drop on the hikes for the past two week because kiefer also said that we shouldn't do aerobics on carb days and I am not drinking on any day but my carb day. I have to admit I don't really understand the reason for this either. Is the science of why CN and CBL work covered in more detail in his CB book?? I have not read that one. I have only really slipped up with my drinking this one time and I just don't understand why the carbs from beer would not be as effective as any other carb. As my buddy who is a home brewer says "beer is bread".

John LaPlaca JrMemberI have had cn's with multiple beers and it never seemed to be an issue. I do feel when you are on a ulc diet beer isn't as good and its both easier to get drunk and hungover. I am holding off on drinking for the time being.

SakecatMemberYeah the Real issue with Friday was it was my birthday as well so I was going into that night with a lax attitude. The other issue for me is really the fact that Saturday afternoon is a good day for me to do carb nite as well I usually don't eat out but Saturday is like a fore gone conclusion its what we do after the hike. Many time getting just protein and fat on Saturdays can be a nearly impossible task. So thank you for your input. I am glad I am some what safe with a little drink on carb nite.I guess the real question is can I do my runs/hikes just before carb nite and not screw up my bio chemistry???

I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it. I wouldn't make it a weekly thing where you drink a lot but if you know you are going to drink I would workout during the day and do HIIT the day after(if you aren't too messed up lol) and do it the following day.I once had a CN where I pretty much drank the entire 8 hours and ate junk all day and was fine the following day.

Brandon D ChristParticipantKiefer has also said that most of his clients that drink on Carb Nite have not had any issues. So if you continue to have progress, I wouldn't worry about it. I personally think that drinking is fine on Carb Nites.

Igor VidovicParticipantI drank regularly when I did CN without it affecting my progress. CN is hard to mess up IMO

SakecatMemberIts awesome to know that the drinking will not screw me up to much. So as long as the hiking dose not cause a cortisol reaction that kiefer warns about I should be good. I don't think it will. When we hit stretches where we would normally run Ill just tone it down to a jog.

Brandon D ChristParticipantI'm a big believer in thinking that a diet shouldn't be torture. If you love to drink, than loosening up on Carb Nite and getting tipsy will be good for you psyche.
