the-hitmanKeymasterHey the only hydrolyzed whey i can get is dymatize i was thinking of mixing it with a slower release protein would isolate or casein be betterĀ ?

Richard SchmittModeratorEither one. You could do both of you wanted.

Richard SchmittModeratorOh not to take away from the OP's question, BUUUUT it's under the same topic!Anyways, I have a PWO Shake that consists of 25g ISO 100 and 15g Elite Whey Isolate. My question is should I swap those amounts to base it more on the book or keep as is? The ISO 100 is Hydrolyzed whey and the Elite Whey is Whey Protein Isolate low carb.

That looks fine to me! I do 25g hydro with usually 15g casein

Gl;itch.eMemberIm not convinced dymatize iso 100 is “proper” hydro whey. Maybe its just been less hydrolyzed than other stuff Ive got. ON hydrowhey is definately a better mixing and digesting whey hydrolysate, which makes me think that ISO 100 is closer to straight whey isolate than fully hydrolyzed whey. I have mixed ISO 100 with another whey isolate and dont feel its worthwhile. May as well just use the isolate or ISO100 on its own and add a slower protein with it. Im about to experiment with some micellar casein in my shakes as well. Will see if it helps.

MikehrMemberDynamtize iso-100 mixes very similarly to TN pure Hydrowhey and has a much lower profit margin than Optimums.Thats enough to keep to dynamtize, I usually buy TN but when I have to buy from my store here i stick to dynamtize proteins.

That should be a good comparison. What level of hydrolysis does TN state for the one you get?

Gl;itch.eMemberHad a look on True Nutrition and they dont actually list the level of hydrolysis! Terrible. But anyway. I tried Dymatize first because Tex gave them a good review and it was the cheaper of the 2 options. After that tub I went for ON Hydrowhey. Yes its more expensive but I can tell the difference. Since Im only using a small amount in my workout drink and a small amount PWO I think its worth the extra benefit. Otherwise I would just stick with plain ISOs.

MikehrMemberFair enough man, all I'm saying is cost is LOWER on optimum. So it costs less to make than the iso-100 and they charge more…

(; And all Im saying is that if you use ISO100 dont bother mixing another Isolate with it. Use ISO 100 as an Isolate. If you want a true hydrolysate Id go for something else. ISO100 is cheap enough to use as your sole Isolate PWO. And the difference youll notice recovery wise is marginal. I just want the hydro for during my workout because I want a "less heavy" protein that mixes clearer.

same question! right now i'm doing about half a scoop of ISO 100 and half a scoop of Elite whey isolate, with a quarter scoop casein....

Richard SchmittModeratorAfter reading this conversation I think just sticking to ISO 100 with an increase in that might be better? Or just stick to Elite Whey?

Dont get me wrong Tex I think ISO 100 is a great powder. I would stick with that and ditch the other when finished. Its just that I wanted ISO 100 for the hydrolysate properties. This is where I think it falls flat over ON Hydrowhey. But as an Isolate its heaps better than most ISOs out there and you do still get some of the benefits of the partial hydrolyzation. If you want to do a protein blend I would focus on a slower intact casein protein in order to provide the building blocks for continued protein accretion. The whey proteins actually spike higher synthesis than caseins but also higher protein turnover and oxidization (net effect less muscle gain) So a blend like keifer has suggested with some casein is going to be better than a blend of what is essentially slightly different versions of whey.

Richard SchmittModeratorI've always like ISO 100 and Dymatize. I can't do casein at all so that's the reason for the added Elite Whey. If upping ISO 100 by itself than adding Elite I'll do that

MikehrMemberBut glitch how can ON be better if it is a lower price product, when I say cost price I mean how much our store pays for it from Optimum. Both "claim" to be hydrolyzed proteins but Optimums manufacture cost price is 15 dollars less than the iso 100 cost price but optimum's mark up is far higher to make it seem like a better product. I dont think how well the product mixes is directly related to the level of hydrolyzation. Different sweeteners as well as amino acid levels and other ingredients will effect this greatly.
