Anna C SprouseParticipantJust wondering if anyone knows about this brand (EAS). I found some chocolate milk/shake flavors. It is supposed to be low carb. Are there any sneaky ingredients I am missing? I have not been able to find the ULC chocolate milk that Kiefer recommends. I know Atkins is not a generally reliable source; how about for low carb drinks though? Thanks

Richard SchmittModeratorI wouldn't consume low carb drinks, the whey within them will spike insulin which you're trying to control while being ULC. Just eat whole foods during the day, and save any whey for the PWO Shake to spike insulin (which is good thing, keeps the body from being catabolic any longer, and promotes you being anabolic).

Adam HaysParticipantdo we still want to spike insulin an hour PWO if doing Carb Nite?

Anna C SprouseParticipantWhat about that “Hood” chocolate milk Kiefer recommends, or at least mentions is permitted during the 10 day deload phase before CN? I guess I was inquiring to see if any other products out there were similar to be used during ULC days. Based on the responses I got, I will look for the whey ingredient to see if it is present so as not to spike my insulin

Richard SchmittModeratorI'm sure it could be okay, but the boom was written years ago and the views with some of the recommendations have changed due to new research he has done as well as studies he has looked into. It can stall progress.

If you are looking for a low carb "milk" you can use almond, coconut, or cashew milk. I use the Almond Breeze and it tastes really good and is low carb and hasn't stalled me yet!
