Eric ShawMemberI'm curious to know if anyone else is or has experienced similar feelings as I am since starting CBL or CNS?Prior to CBL/CNS I have always been someone very health/nutrition conscious and always made great effort to eat clean, healthy foods, avoid junk and processed foods except with the occasional splurge. But since starting CBL it seems as if I have thrown all the past decade of the healthy eating habits I developed out the window and it's been causing me a bit of some debate in my mind. Now I find myself buying ice cream, white bread, pastries, bacon etc. where as before I would never eat or buy this type of food.I also find myself eating a lot less raw vegetables; I used to make a vita-mix smoothie everyday with raw veggies and some fruit. Now the only veggies I eat are 2-3 cups of steamed brussel sprouts, green beans or peppers in a day.I know lots of people have found CBL and proclaimed that this is their new way of life. I've heard some people like Julia Ledowski say being on cBL has actually helped her eat healthier. I for one, seem to have the exact opposite experience, and seem to be eating way less healthier than befoer.I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced similar feelings regarding their old versus new eating patterns since starting CBL?

McLeod2012MemberFirst off, you need to think to yourself “What defines healthy?” You say youve made all these changes in foods but what has happened to your life? Better results, better sleep, more energy, less stress, more free time, or all of the opposite of those? basically, have these changes affected your life positively or negatively? Also, no one is forcing you to eat those types of foods, cleaner options also work for CBL (they just dont taste as good). All im saying is that if youre building muscle and/or losing fat and having a better life than what you were previously doing, who cares what is defined “healthy” foods. This is all my own opinion btw. And if youre still nervous about your overall health, go get levels checked by your doctor.

TokyoLifterMemberWho ever invented this shit that raw veggies are good for your health….. >:( >:( >:(If you cook veggies, you will increase the body's ability to use the nutrients. The fibers are untouched by cooking, but the minerals and vitamins are accessible now. It is true that some of the vitamins get destroyed by the heat, but nobody mentions that the body can't get to them at all when the vegetable is raw, because the body can't digest the plant cells. Eating raw veggies is stupid, not healthy.

tzanghiParticipantI agree that it seems your perception of 'eating healthy' is skewed. Virtually all the ULC meals should be rather healthy(butter, bacon, coconut oil, beef are all very healthy). You can also mix it up with the veggies. I get in a larger variety no problem during ULC. As for the backloading, that's a small portion of your food intake, and I don't think it's unhealthy in this respect. Sure the wheat-based products are somewhat unhealthy, but not nearly as much as they could be because of the way you're using them. Also, there's nothing to stop you from eating rice, sweet potatoes and butter for backloads. I think people have too hard a time realizing that there are different ways to eat healthily.

I used to feel the same way at the start of CBL I would never eat the foods I eat now. I took a step back though and thought to myself "why is it that when I was supposedly eating healthy it was harder to maintain a lean body mass even though I was killing myself training like an animal, and eating 6 times a day to supposedly boost my metabolism.?" "Why is it easier on CBL?" Maybe its because CBL actually is the better of the two. I think as long as we follow the process of CBL....Fast, ULC Meal, Train, PWO Shake, & Backload, what we eat translates into good health.Hope this helps 🙂

Gl;itch.eMemberYou must remember that health is a relative term. In certain contexts unhealthy food can be healthy. Think of a Starving Ethiopian. If presented with a Big Mac would he say "No thanks. Id rather keep starving because Big Macs are unhealthy"? In his case eating a Big Mac is very healthy. But then on the other extreme, think of an obese person that only eats Big Macs. What would be the healthiest thing for them? Not eating at all? Replacing one of those Big Mac meals with a Salad or Beef Steak? If you are getting the micronutrients you need during your ULC meals then all you are doing with your Junky Backloads is adding calories. These foods may be perceived to be unhealthy because they lack nutrients but they still contain some. They still add to what you are already getting because you dont make them the basis for your whole diet, unlike some people.

mda1125GuestFantastic viewpoints! (lurking but loving the question and following answers)"You must remember that health is a relative term. In certain contexts unhealthy food can be healthy."I've been involved in several fitness sites and over time, the group becomes closed minded to the concept listed above. There is no place for sugarsThere is no place for HFCSThere is no place for high glycemic carbs (except the scheduled cheat day)You will give yourself health issues if you eat processed foodThere is rarely if ever an honest discussion of the context backed up with scientific facts. If you eat processed sugary cereal and about 1 hour or less before that broke PRs in the gym or had a seriously hard workout, there is nothing to say you will be less effective or less alert or live a shorter lifespan than somebody who eats brown rice, chicken and yams.CBL is about timing and the usage of insulin (triggering it thru certain types of foods)Two concepts missed in most mainstream fitness discussions (mostly because the audience wouldn't understand it anyway).
