My friend is not going to backload, most likely he'll be eating 2 decent sized chicken breasts per meal. He eats 2 meals a day.

Your friend is an idiot. End of.

I can personally state that a lean protein only diet leads to the most hellish keto flu I've ever had :/ Only time I've ever felt bed ridden from my diet 😀I swear Keifer did an article on this exact idea about 9 months ago? Something about someone he trained who ate 80 or so percent of his calories from protein? Anyone else remember this?

Remember, it's only for 2 weeks. But he isn't chubby. About 20% bodyfat.

You are talking about Jon Anderson and Kiefer did not train him.  Anyways Jon Anderson is absolute freak of nature who surely uses drugs.  He also consumes a large amount of fat, while 80% of his calories come from protein, he eats like 5 pounds of ground beef each day, so he probably gets around 200 g of fat each day.

I can guarantee I'll show my friend this thread and he'll say “the first guy said I'll lose fat.”Anyone got a definitive yay or nay? The guy doesn't have a lot of muscle to begin with. He weighs about 175 at 5'10" and 18-20% bf. So context does matter. What will happen AFTER the two weeks if he resumes a somewhat random uncounted calories (kinda paleo) diet?

To be honest, let him do it!  Think of it as an experiment and he will be the lab rat.  To be honest, most people don't care if they lose muscle as long as they aren't fat anymore.  You never know, he might do ok on it.

Yeah not a cool diet idea. Beef would be better if he severely wants to limit food choice. This is yo-yo dieting at its finest. He might lose some fat/weight but his cravings for other foods are going to go through the roof and he's going to put it all back on after wards. Probably with some more fat and less muscle to boot! The body is too smart to be tricked by diets.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, and this is true of life in general, not just nutritional advice, it's that at the end of the day you can't tell people anything… they do what they want to do, often in the face of colossal mountains of advice, evidence and research, somehow they seem to think THEY know best and all this advice, evidence and research somehow doesn't apply to THEM. So I just don't bother anymore, it's an utterly fruitless exercise… if someone asks my advice, I will of course give it to them (albeit with no expectation they will take it), otherwise don't bother, you're just wasting your time. Let your friend do whatever the hell he wants… I think we often need to make our own mistakes in order to educate ourselves. That said, I'm baffled how often I see apparently intelligent people fly in the face of common sense.  8)

+1You're doing CNS/CBL for yourself. Let others do what they want - their health is not your responsibility.

You couldn't have read my mind more! He's been very adament to get ME to do it with him. And we went back and forth and that's what brought me here. We probably all have people in our lives that have no idea what they're doing, but you gotta let them go. It only gets annoying when those same people harp on your decisions and try to tell you you're wrong.

He'll be fine, and as it's looking, he's gonna do it. So I'll sit back and watch.

Make sure that you are eating everything EXCEPT chicken the entire time. It'll drive him nuts!
