Consuming fat with carbs will reduce the intensity of the insulin spike, but it will mean that insulin is released for a longer period of time.So whilst consuming carbs alone will create a bigger (but shorter duration) insulin response, consuming fat with the carbs will create a smaller (but longer duration) insulin response and the total amount of insulin released will be greater than when consuming carbs alone.You will see this referred to as the 'area under the curve'.CheersMacca
