RussiBKeymasterSo it's fast approaching that time of the year when we look back and contemplate on what was 2012 and start looking forward to an amazing 2013.Being a target-driven individual I like to set myself goals and my 'end goal' for CNS is to get my BF under 15%. Currently it is approximately 35% so this is quite a significant goal however I am wondering if this is too big of a target for 2013?Quick calc:232 lbs now, 35% BF.= 180 lbs LBM.Therefore to get under 15% BF I would need to lose 35 lbs of fat next year.I know some people are losing up to 1lb BF per week but I haven't seen those sorts of results so far. How does this look with regard to a target? I like a challenge but I don't want to just start pulling numbers out the air.Muchos muchos gracias, como siempre x

FairyGuestI think Cory lost 25 lbs in 25 weeks or something along those lines. I'm sure, if you are dedicated you can lose 35 lbs in 52 weeks!

Yeah but Cory has 'Viking genetics' 😉Okay - sounds good, thanks Fairy. Just useful to get a quick sanity check; don't know what I would do without you guys to answer all my random nonsensical questions ;D

Jimmy TParticipantYou might need to sit down for this…Check your numbers again - they don't add up.

FairyGuestRuss, I promise, if you don't eat carbs for 6 days a week for 52 weeks straight, you will lose more than 35 lbs of body fat 🙂I don't know how much muscle you have or how you train, but my total weight has increased on CNS (while losing body fat) so total weight may not always be a true representation of progress. Stick with it.

FairyGuest@Jimmy, yep, I'm guessing it's just a rough estimate@Russ How did you estimate BF%/LBM?
December 13, 2012 at 11:07 am #122393
RussiBGuestYeah I f'd the calculation up ::)232 = 150lbs (approx) LBM at 35%.Therefore I'm looking more in the region of 59-60lbs next year.Hmmmm...that is somewhat optimistic.

FairyGuestThe thing is, the more fat you have the faster you will lose it. Forget about LBS for now and focus on dropping suit sizes. You should be able to drop a pant size every 3 months on CNS no problem. 4 pant sizes down in 2013, that's a worthy goal, and an achievable one that you can easily measure without thinking about weight fluctuations. Since your LBM is 150 lbs, if you weight train you will also gain muscle 🙂

PhattyMemberOver the last 8 months I've gone from well over 280lbs to 224lbs, I just want to keep going with that until I reach a low enough body weight to start my first bulk and add some substantial muscle to my frame.

That is a better way of looking at it. I do have a tendency of try to put numbers on things.

FairyGuestI've noticed 🙂Do you lift weights? Those are numbers worth using as metrics.

RussiBGuestYeah I used to life once a week or so for metabolic effect but then got more into it when I started Bill Philips Body for Life program a few years ago. I let it go because I was putting on muscle but didn't like the fact I was getting bigger all round (fat loss not proportional with muscle gain).I intend to start lifting four times a week next year. I actually put up a new PB on a 5x5 session by 40% after reading Big Tex's hyperlink - hit me hard that article:“Kid, that weight isn’t shit, there’s a lot worse things than that” -Craig's Storyhttp://doyouevenlift.tumblr.com/post/31050932469/craigs-storyI like numbers, I just don't like mine at the moment 🙂
