Just a quick question about carb intake following a fasted morning training session. The book says two things that go completely against each other, so I figured I'd ask for further clarification. In the actual morning training guidelines, Kiefer states that a small amount of high gi carbs (~40 g) taken after a fasted training session would "double the anabolic response from a regular, pre-fed training session." In his write up of Jason DeMayo's routine, he also stated DeMayo would eat 1-2 ripe bananas with his postworkout shake. However, in the example meal plans, all of those list "sans carbs" for the postworkout shake following a fasted training session. I'm also aware that the protein and leucine in the shake would produce an insulin spike on its own.I'm assuming the carb suggestion would be for density bulking, while the shake minus carbs would be geared towards strength accumulation. Am I off base here? Also, doesn't including high gi carbs after morning training kinda defeat the purpose of backloading? Wouldn't that be throwing off the rest of the day?I've tried both variations following fasted training and can't really tell too much of a difference other than a little more energy throughout the day while adding those 40g carbs.Just wondering what protocol to follow, my main goal is to cut fat while gaining strength so I guess you could say I'm doing a strength accumulation phase.Thanks.

Back load night prior. Keep carbs out of the shake PWO for morning training. Simple.

I understand its simple, I just wanna know why there's two separate recommendations. People always say “just follow the book bro” and that's kinda hard to do when it says two completely different things. But I'll stick with no carbs in the shake for fasted training.

If your goal is growth then add the carbs pwo if your strictly concerned with fat loss then don't, but IME I saw no ill results from 25g pwo carbs
