oRlyKeymasterHey, been doing CBL for about a month or so now, I think it's great. If you haven't already, give it a shot.To my question, What fat ratio are you guys using in meals during the low-carb part of the day, and how low would you suggest is minimum? And is it important to have MCT's in the AM-shake if you're having whey in it, or will whipping cream work just as good?

webbyMemberThe ratio should be 1:1 in terms of grams of fat to protein.I aim for around half my body weight in grams (if you're 180lbs aim for 90g of protein and fat during the ULC part of the day.

Richard SchmittModeratorIn the meals keep to 1:1, the shake is not ideal if your goal is fat loss. Just keep to MCT Oil with coffee.

How come? Always been thinking that skipping breakfast and taking the AM-regulator shake would be the best for fat loss and preserving muscle mass. So just black coffee with some coconut milk?

Richard SchmittModeratorYou can do that but whey will halt fat burning if taken in the mornings. Just coffee and coconut oil. Can experiment with the milk if you wanted but that's too many carbs in the early morning.

oRlyGuestSo what's the purpose of using MCT's in the drink, hinder catabolism? My coconut-milk contains like what 1g of carbs/100g.

MCTs prolong fat burning in the morning and gives you the added energy as well. If you want to try the milk by all means go for it, just be sure it's used for texture or taste rather than used straight for MCTs. You'd be better off with the actual oil.

dudsyMemberWhat is this AM-regulator shake? in my CBL book there is an AM accelerator shake, are we talking about the same thing?
You can do that but whey will halt fat burning if taken in the mornings.
This goes against what Kiefer says in the book about whey, to quote,"Whey Isolate to the rescue. Ten grams or so.......There may be a small increase(insulin), but not enough to de-rail fat burning." (p123)

Not saying it's a bad thing or not to take in the 10g of whey. This can be a common factor if fat loss is not happening or you have stalled. That's all. if you want to use the shake by all means. Samething

Gl;itch.eMemberMy AM accelerator shakes are more like 4:1 Fat:Protein! (:
