Compozed76MemberSo when 6:00 comes around I start a clean CBL that consist of white rice, chicken, whey, dextrose and sweet potatoes. Is it normal to feel like absolute crap by the time 8:30 comes around. This sounds funny but on a CBL evening I can't stay awake, and Im sweating as well as my mood being terrible. I see that Psyllium is used in Carb Nite. Maybe my system is just backed up (gross) and just need to start taking that.

If you are having toilet issues supplement with Magnesium
How much dextrose are you taking in? That is usually the culprit for me when I feel gross during a ulc backload. I played with 60-100 grams at once and it killed my stomach. Also it might help to space the PWO shake and 1st meal an hour apart. When I do a half hour I don't feel as good as I do when they are 45-60 minutes later.

Compozed76MemberOk…I will try that. (The spacing) Sometimes it all just seems like too much food in such a small window of time. My stomach feels like its going to explode. This is all about 300grams of carbs and done 4 nights a week. I'm wondering how things would go if I followed a density building format by CBL every night while cutting carbs in half? I know it takes awhile to find a sweet spot for the goals wanted

A lot of it will be very individual based. You can supplement with Digestive enzymes which help also quite a bit. If you are taking more than 40-50 grams of dextrose I would stop taking more than 40-50 at once.I also have banana's PWO when they are ripe to also lessen the amount of times during the week I take dextrose. You can backload your numbers differently depending on what you are training. For example if your baseline carb number is 1000 for the week....Squats-300gramsShoulders-200 gramsDeadlift-300gramsChest-250gramsBi's and tri's-ULC day.

John LaPlaca JrMemberAlso make sure you drink enough water. I know during CN's I started out with cleaner choices and if I didn't have a lot of water during the day I would feel awful even after eating rice or potatoes.

I'm assuming this food (white rice, chicken, whey, dextrose and sweet potatoes.) is not all in one serving? If not, it needs to be spread over time, preferrebly 6-8hrs.

Jeff WilliamsParticipantSweating usually comes from thermogenic affect of food due to all of the calories providing added temperature. Food wise, I feel everyone else has hit on all the major components as to why; I particularly agree with the Psyllium aspect as this can cause undue distress of the GI, especially with a higher quantity of carbs being put into the system.

Compozed76MemberThanks guys. More water is definitely an issue. I'm going to tweak things and hopefully have the self discipline to follow through. On paper things look awesome, but in practice it gets challenging. One more question…On CBL days, do you all cut fat a bit during the day knowing that caloric intake will be insane in the evening? Can't remember if this is covered anywhere...seems like a simple question so thanks ahead for the patience..

there's a chart in the book that shows fat to aim for during ULC portion of CBL depending on your goals...

Gl;itch.eMemberIMO this is down to poor food choice. You need fat and sugars in your meals PWO. You are eating all starch and glucose. You are experiencing a massive crash which is causing your blood sugar drop. Its a good way to get insulin resistance and the beetus.

Willing to listen! Yet, I don't see how the food choice is poor. I thought it was the cleanest possible. I'm always eating the carbs with a protein. What should I do differently?

And thats why I say poor. Dirty it up a little. I see no mention of Pizza or Ice Cream anywhere! :'(As an example this is what Ive done for roughly 2 years and I never have any of the hypoglycemia issues you seem to be getting. I did have issues with night time sweats and sleepiness when I had less total sugary carbs though. PWO shake with gummy bears for carbsPizza with another shake (or) Rice with coconut oil and SteakIce cream and shake (replace shake with steak if pizza was eaten instead of rice)So as you can see the gummy bears and ice cream are a mainstay! But eat whatever you enjoy most. Id just take starch down lower and add sugary carbs either with them or in their place.

Compozed76MemberOk…thanks for defining “poor” 🙂 I was so confused! I was following suggested foods for those who try to eat clean. I also wanted to stay away from white flour without going gluten free. Seems difficult to narrow down the best combination. And I get confused…aren't we supposed to stay away from sucrose? Am I wrong? What sugar are we supposed to avoid?

ideally on the protocol and by the book you want trashy foods like Glitch said ie cherry turnovers, ice cream, pizza, ect ect.. for me personally i limit most of that since i don't eat dairy or gluten but still enjoy some sugary items like rice chex and maple syrup and gluten free waffles and such.. sucrose is debatable as is a lot of fruit but in the end i'd try different things out and see what works best for you
