michigan0626MemberLittle into. I started carb nite on September 26th, a friday. I was supposed to have carb nite yesterday, however I have a doctors appointment with the va in an hour. I went an extra day to weigh as little as possible. He's been harping on me for 2 years now to lose weight. So I started 11 days ago at 5'8″ weighing 308. I am now down to 288. 20 pounds dropped in 10 full days of work. I dont went to mess it up with carb nite. So I want to run by you some foods im thinking about:Taco Rice and Cheese. Its a couple cups of white rice as a bed. then layered with about a pound of lean beef with a packet of taco seasoning, then shredded cheese and hot taco sauce on top.digiorno pizza, pepperoni- 12 fat, 15 protein, 40 carbs (6 servings) so 72 fat, 90 protein, 240 carbsi am also craving popcorn. is this good? should i use the microwave butter popcorn or go to the theater and get a large bag or pop it myself?1 pint talenti sea salt caramel gelato- 11 fat, 38 carbs, 4 protein (4 servings) so.. 44 fat, 152 carbs, 16 proteinDoes this look decent for my first carb nite or a little excessive or wrong foods? Thanks guys.Marc

michigan0626MemberAlso, I was a huge pop drinker. Soda was my water intake for 14 years since i was 16. I have not had a sip in 11 days. New record other than boot camp. Would 1 or 2 cans of full sugar pop be bad on carb nites? If 1 or 2 beers is okay, wouldnt a can or two of Sprite be exceptable?

Hmmm... now might be a good chance to kick the habit altogether. Just sayin...

I don't think the foods are wrong, but that sounds like an awful lot to me (I'm 6'1" and still weigh somewhere north of 350 - been doing Carb Nite for 10 weeks). That amount might work for you.The popcorn should be fine either way.FWIW, I've also had better luck with a few smaller meals during the 6-8 hr time frame rather than one or two pig-outs 'til yer miserable. Overstuffing myself (either on ULC or carb nite) hasn't worked well at all.A typical carb nite for myself might include:- A stack of saltine crackers with a few oz of lean meat (I like ham). I usually start with this and eat it at the computer. Yeah, I'm weird.- 1/2 of a large Digorno rising-crust supreme pizza liberally covered with jalapenos, OR 1/2 lb beef/pork roast with mashed potatoes and gravy, OR fish and french fries, OR a couple of home-cooked burgers and fries (note the ORs - I wouldn't eat them all in one night). I usually make two meals of these quantities btw.- A few slices of banana bread, or a banana or two, or a handful of semi-sweet chocolate pieces, or whatever appeals to me at the moment (last night was my carb nite, and I finished up with a sandwich of peanut butter, semisweet chocolate pieces, and raisins on toast). Told ya I was weird. 😀I drink really sweet tea all thru the evening of carb nite (with and between meals), and it probably reduces the craving for other sweets. It's not that I don't like other sweets, but sweet tea was my main craving on my first carb nite because I had drank it unsweetened all week on ULC (and still do). It still tastes good to me on carb nites, so I still drink it.But this is just what works for me. Everyone's ideal carb night is different, so don't be afraid to experiment. While the main goal is to create the hormone/insulin magic that makes CNS tick, the secondary goal (and a very close second!) is to enjoy carb nite with foods you really like. So (as the book says), live a little. And let us know how it goes. 🙂_

Probably best to download iTunes or Soundhound.
