mwachtelParticipantI'm sure 9g is good. I wouldn't push it past 5g to be honest. However I never really heard of any one stating it's bad to go over 5g
Thats similar to Poliquin, although he says you should take carnitine with that kind of dose. I believe it has somethign to do w/ carnitine ability to increase fat utilization... ???

That would be why. Carnitine helps release fat from fat cells.

steverMemberif only flameout was half the price or less… i'd be all over that like a rash (this really goes for a lot of biotest stuff – they make a good product, but you pay out your ass for it). almost 3:1 ratio of DHA to EPA, with some bonus CLA.

Jimmy TParticipantOh look, someone on DH works for biotest… ;DThere is nothing special about this product or any other biotest product. They do have excellent marketing though. If you're looking for a 3:1 DHA/EPA concentration (or higher, I've seen 5:1), there are numerous choices available for less cost.A regular high quality fish oil (1.5-2:1) will suffice for most of us, given we previously had zero supplementation.

chico1MemberCarson's Finest Fish Oil is what Kiefer recommends and it is very concentrated in Omega-3s. I think one tablespoon has 8 total grams of fat, 4.8 of which are DHA/EPA. It is the best tasting fish oil I have tried too (the lemon flavor). So if your looking to find an omega-3 concentrated fish oil, this is a good one.

ha, i wasn't attempting to come across as a shill - especially seeing as though i made mention of the fact it is horribly overpriced. in terms of the dha:epa ratio, everything i've come across has been in the 2:3 realm (in favour of EPA, not DHA) - but that's only locally

You dont need to defend yourself! I use flame out and have noticed a significant difference compared to Cason's. Fish oil is one supplement I can feel the difference, so the BIOTEST stuff does work.

Jimmy TParticipantBut I never suggested Carson's was good? I'm assuming you're talking about the regular finest or very finest…I suggested there are much less expensive products than biotest, with the same quality or better.

I knew what you meant. Your just hating on Biotest because others have. Have you ever tried any of their supplements? Do you know there is "nothing special" about them? I think they have terrible marketing compared to other companies (Optimum, Animal) unless your readying their articles or on their site. Is it such a travesty to try to sell your product on your web site?

Jimmy TParticipantI knew what you meant. Your just hating on Biotest because others have. Have you ever tried any of their supplements? Do you know there is "nothing special" about them? No, I'm not hating on them because of what others say. My opinion is based on information and experience - yes I've used their products (even flameout). I think they have terrible marketing compared to other companies (Optimum, Animal) unless your readying their articles or on their site. They were one of the first to use an informational newsletter, blog and forum as the basis to promote their business (selling supps). It was very effective for them. And I'm not suggesting that other big supplement companies are any better than biotest. No, I believe they are all running the same type of racket. Imo, there aren't any magic pills or powders. The basics are all you need and the big supp cos sell those at a premium to others. Anyway, my point to the OP was that he could get high quality fish oil for less than flameout, and with the same quality. Is it such a travesty to try to sell your product on your web site? No idea where this came from? But since you asked, I do consider it a travesty to waste one's money.

Where does Kiefer recommend this fish oil? Would like to read on it. Just went on their website and can't see the dha to EPA ratio anywhere, maybe because I'm on my phone and it doesn't show on the mobile version. When should I take fish oil? I've been taking it with my PWO shake only.

mwachtelParticipantHe recommended it in the book. PWO is the one time u should not be taking fish oil. Take Itt thru out the rest of thev day.

Richard SchmittModeratorYep, best place is with your ULC whole food meals. You want a combined total of EPA and DHA of 4g+
November 1, 2012 at 2:04 pm #96036
Brandon D ChristParticipantI don't know if this is correct or not, but I always tried to just make my omega 6: omega 3 ratio 1:1 for each ULC meal. My backload meals typically don't typically have a lot of fat in them and the fat it does contain are mostly saturated fat.

That's something I should look into as well, and I believe would be ideal to get more insight on that. Doesn't sound like a bad idea to do as well. What meats are you using contain just Saturated Fats
