May be it'not a deficiency in O3 but a ratio, and if we decrease O6-9 in alimentation and eat some fatty fish, i think pur ratio is better so complementation may not be important. I note, for myself, that if i take too much O3 in a week, i have inflammatory response and fat lose stall. If i don't eat fish, 5-10g every 2-3 days are enough. So i do by feeling, but not 15g every day.

The benefit of increasing the 3:6 ratio is in simply reducing total PUFA intake. If you do away with them both youd be better off.

    I agree.

So my hubby is a big advocate of fish oil, and his bottle is just about out. I told him I'd read into it and see how good it really is for him since I recalled seeing this thread post (but didn't read it until a few minutes ago since I personally don't take fish oil, granted, my only reason not to is because I always forget.) However this is his main source of oil, he takes the triple strength fish oil once a day. If after I finally read through all these link I pulled up off this thread I decide that we are going to try not using fish oil, where would you suggest his oil comes from? “Oh, butter, MCT, coconut…” I understand that, because that's where I get all my oils. However he's pretty much always on the go and wants something in capsule form that he can take with him when he has to travel. I briefly looked into MCT in capsule form and couldn't find a good source. So, my question for everyone who does not go the fish oil route, what easy on-the-go oil would you suggest? I had suggested one of those on-the-go empty shampoo bottles you can buy at your walgreens or walmart so you could just squirt your liquid oil into your protein shake but he rolled his eyes at that one 😉

Depends why he wants the "oil" If its for calories, butter, coconut or MCT oil would be fine but not as easy to carry around. If he does any prep for meals you can just use this stuff as part of the cooking process. Or if you are like me you just leave a container of Coconut Oil at work that you spoon out for coffee's. That should be easy enough.

I only take fish oil the weeks i don't eat any fatty fish like salmon. If i have some, as i don't eat so much PUFA, my Omega's ratio shouldn't be so bad, so no fish oil. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free

Yeah give it another week or so. I used to notice my wrists/shoulders flaring up when I stopped fish oil for a week or two, but was still eating lots of shit food and tons of PUFAs. When I dropped those and the fish oil I actually saw improvements in joint pains/niggles!

I don't understand.  What qualifies as “PUFA free”.  You can't mean that literally because if there's fat, there's some PUFAs.  Grass fed beef, eggs, butter, and even coconut oil have SOME PUFA.I don't really like this radical avoid PUFA diet.  You are really limiting your diet if you try to minimize PUFA intake.  Pork, Chicken, and other animal fats contains a fair amount of PUFA.  I also do not believe eating fish is bad for you.I think as long as you don't base your diet on crappy, super processed seed oils, nut oils, ect. you will be fine.

Yes well thats where the bulk of them are coming. Most of those foods "Grass fed beef, eggs, butter coconut oil" have like a max of 2% PUFA which is tolerable if you arent eating the higher percentage sources. I would personally avoid non-ruminant animals UNLESS they are fed proper diets e.g free to roam and forage, or fed fruits rather than grains. Non-fatty fish should be fine. But fatty fish like Salmon etc is probably not a good choice for a staple food source. Even if its fished from the ocean (forgetting about fukushima for second). Once in awhile wont kill you.
