Shane LaytonMemberFor the last 15+ years I've had chronic lower back pain, and was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. I've basically just accepted the fact that I'll have back pain forever, and I've tolerated it, not wanting to take pain meds, etc. Well, last night I was sitting on the couch watchin some TV and surfin the net, when I noticed that I didn't have my usual pain. In fact, I didn't feel any pain at all, which was weird. Today I don't have any back pain either. So I started thinking about why this might be. I had a light-bulb moment. A week or so ago I started taking fish oil, about 5g/day. One of the main benefits of fish oil is anti-inflammation. I can't say with absolute certainty that fish oil eliminated my pain, but what the hell else would it be? Nothing else has changed. I mean, my back still hurts when I'm in a precarious position, but that constant nagging pain is gone, and I'm freakin stoked. Let's hope it continues 🙂 Has anyone else ever experienced less pain after taking fish oil?

Brandon D ChristParticipantFish oil is anti inflammatory do it isn't that surprising.

Shane LaytonMemberIt's surprising to me because anti-inflammatory *medications* have never helped. So I wasn't expecting any pain relief at all. Bonus.

decoy5657MemberSomething natural vs medication… I'll take the “something natural” if it works.

Brandon D ChristParticipantWell natural can mean too many things. Often natural just means from a plant, which in that case you are still putting chemicals in your body that don't belong there. The same as taking a pharmaceutical. But yes, if the problem can be solved with nutrition, that would be the way to go.

Fernando AguilarParticipant100% with the conversation…I also believe that nutrition is key to health, the problem is that what people believe is good nutrition is just totally crap...

Nutrition and other things as well. Unfortunately, the other things are often ignored.Examples are breathing, posture, and stress.
