sarah_h88Memberhttp://www.nutritionandmetabolism.com/content/9/1/91/abstractwhat are some opinions on this? it looks like more frequent feedings of protein are more in favor.i've been trying to resize and cut down the amount of meals i'm having during ULC...but this new study is looking like a typical body building diet with more feedings. hmmm 😮

You could try doing smaller, more frequent meals if it fits you better and works for you. Setting up a way to achieve what you want is the more ideal choice.

This study was not really geared toward anything related to fat loss though and gave no insight on if the candidates gained bf or anything of that nature. Not sure if that would benefit anyone on CNS......... maybe CBL??

Debunked. This is bad science. Starvation mode? LOL. I used to buy into this crap but its total BS.Theres nothing to be gained from increased frequency of meals. If anything that study the OP pointed to shows that there is increased protein turn over in frequent low dose feedings. Thats not necessarily an effect we want when trying to gain and keep new muscle. Coupled with the fact that you need a relatively large spike in aminos (especially leucine) to spur protein synthesis to any useful level. Low dose protein with high frequency is more likely to gear the body up to use protein as a fuel via gluconeogenesis rather than increase its efficacy in muscle protein storage. Anecdotally I have found that fewer much larger protein feedings help me to retain muscle much better than lots of small ones even when the same amount is eaten overall.

Brandon D ChristParticipantFrequent feedings do not aid in fat loss at all, as a matter of fact, it is probably sub-optimal. Give you digestive organs a break. If you are coming from low fat diet though, eating smaller more frequent meals isn't a bad idea to get used to a high fat diet.Frequent feeding is a good strategy for maximum muscle gain (hence the reccomendation to eat frequently on Density Bulk), but on Strength Accumulation or Carb Nite it is not necessary.
