Peter HuntParticipantSome fruit is low in fructose mind and really good for backloads. Strawberries for example.

PhattyMemberIMO you can have fruit whenever youd normally have carbs. But dont use them as your sole carb source. A few pieces of fruit over a backload is fine providing theyre not all you are getting your carbs from. I myself have fruit on my smaller backloads on off days. The fear of fructose is overwhelming! unless you are drinking straight fructose by the gallon and are sedentary as hell with absolutely no brain activity I dont see how small amounts (relative to the rest of the carb makeup) can pose a problem for anyone. If an apple is stalling your fatloss you have other problems.
I have no real issues with fructose outside of agave or liquid forms.I have an issues with people claiming some magical health benefit of fruit when vegetables can give you all the same benefits without the sugar or calories.
Banana's do taste a lot nicer than steamed broccoli though. Since we're on the subject, the amount of times I've heard people say "the sugar in fruit is natural, so it's good for you" or "there's calories in >insert fruit/veg< it's a free food" is staggering.

well they would be correct. the problem is the bottle of soda and the bag of potatoe chips that they have after their "healthy piece of fruit" LOL

John LaPlaca JrMember^^If you like fruit, have some.. I eat it with most backloads solely bc I enjoy it, still wake up tight and full the following morning.
I had banana's in rice krispies the other day as a part of a backload...... so good!

i have one banana every backload and sometimes some dried apricots as well.. fruit would really only be an issue if you tried to make it your staple carb source for every backload but one piece or so is perfectly fine

John LaPlaca JrMemberI used to beileve there's no way fruit can make you fat or that there were any draw backs to it but I beileve there are quite a few. I used to have a banana, green apple, greek yogurt and cottage cheese everyday as a meal at work. I was starving less than an hour all the time. Between the sugar content and the way my body was responding to carbs it was keeping the weight on me.At the gym I workout at has a juice bar that has fruit smoothies and what not.... All the smoothie people look like dog shit. I am not blaming it all on the fruit but it isn't helping their case. There's a guy who's a vegan and I hear him preach him vegan garbage to other people in the gym and it makes me laugh. He is skinny fat and looks terrible and for whatever reason some people take his advice. He never benches, deadlifts, or squats. He is the perfect example of this joke I once heard... How do you know some one is a vegan? They will tell you lol. With the exception of banana's or mango's in backloads I don't see a point to eating fruit anymore. My sister is doing Paleo and anytime she stalls its always seems to be here fruit intake is too much. She drops it for a few days and her progress picks back up.

atomicusMemberI've heard variations of what you say many times. The idea that copious amounts of fruit can do you no harm is such an entrenched idea with many people though, it's very hard, if not impossible, to dissuade someone from such eating habits.

Yet they continue to do the same thing over and over and look like shit. I've even had people argue with me who have no lifting or dieting experience on how to lose weight. For the most part people like that are looking for an argument. They are also the same people who say they know what works for them yet look terrible. Its one of the main reasons I don't discuss my eating style with people unless they ask and have some knowledge.I currently have a friend who told me he doesn't need to diet to get ripped, can continue to drink 4 days a week, eat like shit, and has a ton of self inflicted stress in his life. Good luck with that! Its just as bad as the people who say" I want to work out but I dont want to do it alone" "I don't want people looking at me" "I won't have time to do other things I enjoy" and my favorite "I don't want to get huge"1. I prefer working out alone. I have had 1 good group of workout partners a few years ago and due to work hours I can't workout with them anymore. I feel other people slow me down and I hate that.2.Do you really think people are there to look at you? Do you honestly think people give a fuck that you are working out? 3. If you don't enjoy working out then don't do it. If TV or bullshitting in a bar is more enjoyable go do it. You're better off being happy with your time on earth than doing shit you don't want to do. However don't complain about being fat or out of shape if you aren't going to do anything about it.4. This one always drives me insane lol. They ignorance that people think if they just look at a pair of dumbbells will get them huge or ripped lol. Odd's are you won't lift heavy enough, eat enough/correctly/ and workout hard enough to reach either of those levels. Its hard work for a reason. These aren't directed at anyone here, just got a little carried away lol

True, the shit they eat in conjunction with their "healthy" piece of fruit is what does the damage. It just irks me because all sugars are natural, how people are somehow unaware of that just puzzles me.

That's a favourite of mine. Because of course every guy who goes to the gym ends up looking like Arnie 2-weeks later hahaha! 8) What's even more hilarious is when I hear people saying they don't want to drink protein shakes for this same reason! I don't even bother responding to that. >:(

A girl I used to work with tried to tell me that protein shakes gave her a 6 pack after a week of going to the gym so she stopped drinking them.
