Lauren NorfleetParticipantI hit a plateau right after the reorientation phase too. I started out at 199 lbs and lost 6 or 7 lbs during the reorientation, and then got stuck at 193.7 for like 3-4 weeks. My weight/size just wouldn't budge. But I found that I just wasn't eating enough (mostly because I wasn't that hungry). After I started eating more (and mostly just beef, eggs, butter, bacon) I dropped again down to 187 lbs. I'm slowing down again but I know it's because I've slacked off on my macros (eating enough). So try and be patient, I know it sucks but keep working at it with minor tweaks and some experimenting. Eventually you'll break through it. Definitely take out the alcohol though, it just screws you up.

Cory McCarthyMemberKathy, I totally agree with you! 😉 I definitely am wanting to see faster the results. It is a mentality I have to get over...much like learning to eat fats when everything in my being says "what are you f'ing doing?!?!" LOL! I have always found diets that allowed me to drop weight quickly, however, where has that gotten me? Right here at 44% BF because I always gain it back quickly. So I guess I need to suck it up! ;D I assume so many people have responded because we have all had one of these moments on this diet! LOL! Which is why I knew I just needed talked down from the ledge from some sage veterans of this program!!Thanks all again for all of you input and advice!Julie
Fast is relative. Fast for you may be slow for the next person, and vice versa. This is a battle with yourself, as any diet is. Whether you win or lose, ultimately, is up to you. We are here to advise, and we will continue to do so.Fight for your own results, share them and be proud of them. No one here will speak ill, and if they do... they've found the wrong forum.Cory

P.J.ParticipantI hate being told exercising could make my progress worse 🙁Is there any actual guide about how much is too much? Or do we just guess?I don't do cardio, only HIIT, climbing, RT – and I'm planning to introduce gymnastics and dance.
You're fine. 😉 Enjoy yourself, and only pull back when your body tells you to. Your body knows, and it will speak to you. No one, not even the athletic elite, can go balls to the walls full stop.Suggested limits are such b/c not everyone has the same natural recovery abilties. Genetics do play a big factor, and while that isn't very politically correct, lies don't help anyone. I am not in the business of sugar-coating to salve feelings. I want to help, not deceive. We must all work with what we were born with. We must all leave excuses at the door.Cory
Cory brings up a great point. Just as our bodies tell us when we've had enough to eat on a carb-night or a backload, it also lets us know when we're burning out from exercise. I know listening to your body doesn't sound as scientific or as structured as calories/grams or miles/minutes, but we're not robots and I don't think that's how we were intended to function in the first place. Listening to our bodies, in my opinion, is more precise than set amounts can ever be because it's already automatically tailored for each individual. Even the Shockwave protocol is based on the premise of listening to your body. I think where we get in trouble is when we stop listening to how we feel and, for various reasons/false beliefs, we start either undereating, force-feeding ourselves, or exercising beyond fatigue.

RichmanGuestDon't let the fact that alcohol companies will promote that their is “only” x-number of carbs in their beer or drinks fool you. Protein, Fats, and Carbs….Protein, Fats and Carbs is all anyone hears about unless you ask a beer maker where all the calories in their beer come from.I did this years ago and everyone I contacted had the same response,...."the other calories that aren't listed in the Protein, Fats, and Carbs label come from the alcohol content. But what IS alcohol? It IS Sugar! Obviously this goes into the Carbohydrate category but they prefer to promote their products as "low carb"....total BS!.So definitely pay attn to your alcohol intake. I brew my own beer and I understand how much "sugar" is in it. 😮Rich
